Are Atari 2600 consoles considered to be rare nowadays? I managed to find one at a store for £10. It's a light-sixer and not the original heavy-sizer but still wasn't expecting the price to be that low.

The price would be heavily dependent on the condition. An Atari 2600 with the package in mint condition could be fairly valuable(but not too valuable). The Atari 2600 as a console not so much.

The label on the back reads:

Manufactured by Atari-Wong Ltd.
In Hong Kong
Covered by U.S. patents 3,793,483;
3,900,886; 3,723,652; 3,788,480; RE 28507;
RE 28598; D 254,544 & Patents Pending

S.N. 548340485

Pretty much confirms it as the newer light-sixer. Does anyone know how to interpret the serial number? Apparently it can be used to find the manufacture date, location, and unit number.
