Back on topic R4 should have turned out some software ages ago. I love my R4

, but software and hardware are 2 different things. Cyclo was out of production for a while, but R4's were/are being churned out at a staggering rate.

Fix Rom compatability while you work on the rest!

Did you hear the Pod Cast? There is a new R4 coming out. Thats why there is no update.

Yep, everyone with an old R4 will likely now be screwed for updates. As most people figured, SDHC is impossible on the current R4 and they have to make a new one to support it. We can only hope they don't forget about all the people with the old R4.

Looks like I'll just be buying a 2nd 2gig microSD for my old one. I haven't bought zip for my DS since I bought my R4, I don't plan on buying anything more until I absolutely have to.

Hmmm so SDHC on the old R4 isn't possible afterall... I think I'll buy myself a SDHC R4 when it's out and sell my old R4 to my little brother.

Edit: Not supporting the current R4 would be a bad move.

With so many R4s sold, no way they are going to forget about the old users. It wouldn't be a bad idea for the R4 team to offer an exchange to the new R4, as long as you paid the p&p.

Lets face it, other than the hardware change in the new R4 to support SDHC, I can't imagine software wise there is going to be any change. I wouldnt be surprised if the new and old R4 use the same loader software. I mean, what else can they do to make it better.

Of course, I could be totaly wrong.

Yeah agreed, hopefully there won't be massive differences since i'm an R4-to be user.
SDHC isn't that great really, i dont quite understand why you would need the extra 100000000GB. I mean it was originally made to play games, but if that floats your boat then it's alright.
I think since the R4 is so compatible at the moment, they probably wouldnt have any massive software/hardware changes, maybe a few tweaks to show that it's not just the R4 with SHDC, i could be wrong, easily xD.
But apart from that, i think they'll definitely keep updating for R4 2nd Gen users, they have to with the huge audience they already possess. =]

Agreed Smile SDHC cards aren't upto scratch yet (even friends with cyclos have said its not as good as a 2gb SD/TFcard)

I don't understand why people are in so much of a rush for SDHC support the cards are too expensive and therefore risky if one corrupts (unless your rich and don't care about money)

I'd but far rather have multiple 2gb mSD's one for roms and another for dpg/mp3 etc.

Its not like they're heavy to carry around.

SDHC is the new type of flash media cards they can hold more data, (the old/current ones being SD/TF) but most are still in testing

If you get a decent class card they work just the same as a normal SD card.

SDHC cards are around the same price as a normal SD card - their is no longer a premium (or a very small one) for the extra space.

They've been out of testing for a long time now - they've even been on the market for a while

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
