Hi quick question,

For CFG usbloader,
does anyone know all the button presses during loading that let you choose which IOS it will boot with?

this is what I know so far:

no button press during loading = Auto (default 249)
A button = ios 222 mload
B button = ios 223 mload
1 button = ios 222 mload
2 button = ios 223 mload

are there any other button press'es that anyone know of?

Thanks

I have just done a softmod refresh using ModMii. Everything installed fine.

I use a 1tb USB drive formatted as a single partition FAT32 (32k). All my games are in /wbfs/*.wbfs

When I load MarioKartWii using WiiFlow, it freezes on a black screen.

When I load MarioKartWii using WiiFlow after using Neek2o, it goes to a black screen then starts to work fine.

Any ideas?

Hi - Can anyone give me some basic advice - I have a fairly old setup on my soft modded Wii i.e. older versions of homebrew channel, Uloader, and Wad Manager. My question is are there advantages to completely updating the soft mod system and installing the setup afresh - will it play games over and above the old setup or improve performance?

I have an old version of the Homebrew channel, Uloader 5.1 Tecvuca, and Wad Manager 1.7 by Waninkoko. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, with a completely updated softmod you can now play a backup of nearly 100% of Wii games (including multi-DOL games like MPTrilogy WITHOUT any DOL selection up front and IOS reloading games) AND run GameCube games and some Triforce (GameCube based arcade) games from the SD card or USB drive. If you're using uLoader for DVD-R backups on an external USB DVD reader, no modern loaders support that, or if you have saved game progress in it's emuNAND (modern loaders use a different format) you might want to keep it as well but otherwise it's a little outdated. The backup launchers that are still (or most recently) being updated you can compare here http://gbatemp.net/threads/backup-loaders-comparison-chart.333364/
Anyway, the easiest way to update everything is to just give ModMii for Windows a copy of your SysCheck, let it download everything and then follow the instructions. After that, You'd just have to look into Quadforce, DM(L), Devolution or Nintendont for GameCube loading.

Have fun.

I am sick and tired fo using USB loader GX, for some reason today it just decided to straight up crash on me for no reason.

So now I wanna go back to CFG, I updated from within the program but none of my GameCube games work there, is there anything special I have to do to get them going?

I have tried everything for the last two days. It reads the games but when I go to play them it shows a black screen that won't got away until I restart my Wii. Before this they wouldn't run giving an error message saying that the games could only run from an SD card. I've come to the conclusion that it must be my external HDD. I am using a WD Passport Ultra 3.0. It is formatted with two partitions. The first is a FAT32, 32 kilobytes alloc. unit size, marked as active. The second is where I keep my Wii backups which work fine on a WBFS partition. I've followed multiple guides, used multiple loaders, and have no idea what to do now. I did a system check to see if anyone could possibly spot the problem for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I hate to be that guy, but I've done no end of testing and researching and I'm at wit's end.

Okay, basically, I'm trying to boot a Gamecube game (Pokemon Colosseum) but I'm getting a green screen and then a Wii reset in Neogamma.

Here's what I've done:

- Downloaded d2x 249[56] v8 cIOS (via ModMii).
- Downloaded (and packed) v10 MIOS (via NUS downloader).
- Installed d2x 249[56] v8 cIOS (via Wad Installer 1.7).
- Installed v10 MIOS (via WiiGator's installer).
- Installed NeoGamma R9 b56.
- Burned Pokemon Colosseum onto a Verbatim 16x DVD-R.
- Checked that the Wii didn't have a protected drive (bought in '07, so I doubted that, checked anyway).
- Tried fiddling with various settings (plugin, MIOS patch, video, forced restart).

One thing to note is that Neogamma recognises the disc as Pokemon Colosseum.

I'm at a bit of a loss. If anyone could offer any tidbits of sage wisdom or advice, I'd really appreciate it. I'm just kind of banging my head against a brick wall at the moment, though, figuratively, since I'm unable to think of anything else. A lady friend and I were quite looking forward to this, but I got rid of my Gamecube a long time ago. More's the pity.

If anyone can help out with this, they'd get personal hero status, and if anyone could actually fix the problem I'd be happy to tip you $20 via PayPal.

Edit: Would I be better off trying to use DIOS-MIOS? I've heard that there are problems with savegames with those games on DIOS-MIOS, though. Are those issues solved by having a Gamecube memory card?

If I do it this way, I use something like GCIT to extract the ISO into a folder, which I then put in the games folder on the SD card's root, right?

The reason I haven't gone about things this way is because I'm worried about the savegame issue.

Again, anyone who can help me get this up and running, and largely problem free, I'd be happy to tip for their time.

Hey, been a while since I've done anything regarding my Wii, and I'm having trouble ripping games. Can someone point me in the direction of the correct IOS's I need, and whichever app is best? I'm ripping to USB, if that means anything.

So I installed the IOS for DIOS MIOS. Every Gamecube backup works flawlessly albeit a few of them have very slight sound issues. But when playing my original Melee disc through both DIOS MIOS and from the Wii Menu after installing the DIOS MIOS IOS, the game crashes at random moments (i.e. just before I get to the Character Select Screen, or right at the end of a match).

I have my wii soft mod few years ago.
Never updated and still playing the old games.

I recently got try to borrow a backup game from a friend, and that didn't load up with the backup channel.

I actually need to check and see how old my system is and what safe updates that I can apply.

Can someone please suggest where to look and check this? and from where to update?

Thanks,

Hoping that someone has the time to help me out. I am having trouble getting USB loaders to work.
wii version 4.1u (I was thinking about updating to 4.2 or 4.3 but have seen good & bad........hard for someone not familiar with this to decipher the old info with the new or the good from the bad).
I have been able to play games from 3 different USB loaders (wiiflow, USB loader gx, & cfg usb loader). The problem is that I have to have my HDD unplugged until I start one of the back up loaders. Then when I open the loader, I plug in my HDD & it works fine. If I start with my HDD plugged in, the loaders freeze. I have ran a syscheck with modmii & it states that my softmod is up to date. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
I only looked back into this (probably originally modded my wii 6 years ago??) because we had bought our daughters the Disney Infinity game & it would not work. I followed the modmii guide for my system & now that problem is solved.
Thanks again for any of your help!!

I already posted in newbie paradise on the hacking board but this is probably more of a backup loader question.

Can any of these loaders emulate the Wii's "Format System Memory" function? For some reason my virgin Wii is unable to factory reset, and stalls at the "Formatting..." screen indefinitely. But all the guides I can find just explain how to remove softmodding, etc. and then say to just factory reset. Is it possible to, say, load the memory from another blank Wii onto mine or something?

I asked this in the WiiFlow thread, but perhaps this is better.

Is it possible to have multiple versions of the same game in either cfg or WiiFlow?

I intend to have multiple versions of SSBM. There are three revisions of NTSC, commonly referred to as 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2. I also intend to have PAL, a modded version called SD remix, and maybe separate texture-hacked versions.

I'd like the ability to pick and choose within a loader without having to delete or hide things on my HDD. Ideally, each would have unique cover art to inform which it is and each would have its own cheatlist to choose from.

Regarding backup loaders, why use savegame emulation? I used postloader with cfg for loading games, then my hard drive crashed and i lost my emunand, when i ran a new emunand with modmii now i have wiiflow and it prompts to copy the save from my real nand, i do this but is the save now on my usb drive that may some day fail? I think I'd trust the wii nand more than whatever spare usb disk i have laying around to dedicate to my aging wii.

After looking at the backup loader comparison chart would it make sense to switch my priiloader to boot into wiiflow instead of postloader? it seems to do everything postloader can do.

Is there a way to restore my MIOSs to normal after having installed DIOS-MIOS (regular)? For some reason I can't play GCN games on retail disc anymore. (Devolution seems to work though.)

Quick question! if I want to use the USB Loader with a 64gb memory stick, can I use any Kingston memory stick, or does it has to be specific models? If so which are the most proper ones?

So I haven't touched my Wii or its USB loaders for a while, so I decided to boot up again after a few months. I used the exact same setup I had before, however, my 3TB HDD isn't being recognised by ANYTHING AT ALL. Everything just times out. I've tried rebooting everything, unplugging and replugging in my hard drive, yet nothing works. Is there a guide I can follow to re-setup my Wii to read from an NTFS-formatted drive and get my Wii up off the ground again?

Stupid noob question:

A friend is giving me a free Japanese Wii. I'm thinking about getting a Wode. With what little research I've done I've learned you need 4.1 or lower to load ISOs from the USB HD that are from other regions.

Is it easy to downgrade a Wii? Especially a Japanese one? Is there a tutorial I'm just not finding?
