Well, I have 6.20 Pro b9, but I have an issue with gpsp. If I press the volume or the brightness or anything that affects the system physically, the PSP crashes.

you can translate your own file refering to the english file.

since the time of DA CFW didn't support ISO/CSO >2GB,the main reason is that there is no ISO >1.8G. but this is overthrown by FF-type zero PSN version. PRO-B10 now support ISO/CSO >2G.

First addition is obvious, second is again obvious (translations), third seems self explanatory for disabling plugins which alter the function of the XMB (VSH prx's), fourth is effectively enabling save-states for PSP ISO's on the Go, and the fourth i assume is reference to the size limits quoted at the end. No idea how that's visible...

Is there any way to tell what firmware a PSP will have based on any numbers on the box? I just picked up a PSP-3003 really cheap, brand new, so I'd like to be able to return it if it's got 6.61 version of the firmware.

Or is the only way to boot it up and check the menu? How recent is 6.61?

6.61? There is no 6.61?

You don't need to worry about anything, the most recent firmware (6.60) is CFWable.

Edit: Oh, I'm assuming Rydian put 6.61 OFW in the guide so that it wouldn't be outdated when a new update gets released.

Ah. Brilliant! I've been out of the PSP hacking loop for years now (I think when I last had a PSP it was firmware 2.50 that was the most recent) so I'm not all caught up.

Thanks man. :) I didn't wanna tear it all open and find I'm screwed on the hacking side of things; it was the main reason for me picking it up.

It doesn't make any difference as each version of PRO offers the same features. If you have a PS3 or use Media Go it may be worth an update to 6.60 just for convenience, otherwise just use 6.39 PRO B10

The last digit is just the region code. Think of the models as 100x, 200x and 300x where x represents whatever region number the PSP is from.

I've been wondering, have any fan-translated patches ever been released for the psp? There's been all sorts of projects for the DS but I don't think I've ever seen any for the psp.

I just got a PSP Go with 6.60

Am I stuck with temporary hack? No way to downgrade?
Every psp Go comes with 05g, which can be downgraded to 6.20 to hack with permanent. You're fine with temporary, imo; it's time consuming to downgrade + psp Go's (compared to psp 1000/2000/3000s) are slow on booting up when it's on permanent. But if you feel like installing permanent, you can downgrade it.
