PSnes is working wonderful, love the previews / boxart options as well I must say.

I have a request though;
Favorites (mark as option)
Recently played (Last 10 played games)

Both of these options would be very welcome if you have a somewhat larger set available.
Yes, favorites is something I want to do since a while, just didn't find the time to do so. I'll do it someday.

1. Never had any issues.
2. Stop acting on your "I grew up with iphone, iphone has one button, I click it every 15 seconds - then Im at home screen, what a relief" skills and actually exit the emulator using the "exit emulator" function, instead of quiting out of everything and anything using the home button.
3. That said, save states should be saved to sdcard, as you are saving them - if I'm not mistaken - so point 2 might not apply. Still try it, and lets see if it helped.. ;)

If not - next likely issues are: write to sdcard has issue on a certain firmware/hikate combo (unlikely), or SDCard is corrupted (even more unlikely, especially since you could load saves). More likely would be you accidentally having deleted, or renamed the rom, which now results in a PEBCAK issue.

Seriously stop using the home button like an overenthused iPhone user, though. Prevents many problems (basically all apps you load via homebrew menu, dont tend to stay in memory - so the next time you open them, they'll be restarted. Also the Switch os isn't designed as a DAU OS - where every step and state is saved as soon as it is done - it still follows concepts like "do you want to save to sdcard?" and "actually leaving apps has consequences".

"Cool, but I pressed home button, and now I'm home, so what do I do now?"

"Call a friend?"
Talk about a backhanded approach. If you have no intent of being beneficial to this forum, then why are you even here?

That giant wall of completely useless, incoherent drivel could have been summed up to a few sentences AT MOST.

Chrono Trigger - Freeze or Stall for 1/4 second.

Whenever the menu in game appear. You just need to watch the intro to notice the issue.

Read the "How to" on the website: https://github.com/Cpasjuste/psnes/releases
  • pSNES use a database file for rom handling. You'll need a "db.xml" file located alongside the application. The current "db.xml" file comes from "Hyperspin" website, and only contains USA "good rom / no-intro" set. Your rom files must be zipped and named as per this set. You'll find in the "database" directory this file as backup/reference (Super Nintendo Entertainment System - hyperspin.xml) + a complete set from dat-o-matic (http://datomatic.no-intro.org). Rename this file to "db.xml" and (re)place it in the same directory as the executable to use this one. You can make your own database file with filtering from this great website.
AFAIK there is no "Icon Set" you can use with it.

Now i know better after research!

1 .get the SNES "NO-INTRO" Rom set (DONT ask for it search for it and you will find it!)
2. unpack the ROM set and "clean" it out (Only the USA should be in the unpacked directory!)
3. DL the SNES Pciture Set form Libreto: http://thumbnailpacks.libretro.com
4. Unpack ONLY the "Named_Snaps" folder
5. copy the CONTEND (NOT THE FOLDER) to your SD card folder "/switch/psnes/previews"
6. copy the ROMS to /switch/psnes/roms/
7. startup your Switch and psnes and you will see the "ingame" pictures of your Games :switch:

And BTW THANKS for your great work on that Emu for the Switch! :grog:

Do the roms have to be zipped in .zip format or .rar format? Does it matter? also, my roms are .smc, not .sfc. does this matter?

As long as you have the latest release, zipped or unzipped are both fine (I prefer my roms unzipped *WINK*) but should be in .zip if they are. And both .sfc and .smc both work - personally tested.

Anyone else having trouble with save states? I played SMB + Super Mario world and saved 4 states in SMB3. All were there and I could use them while playing a session. Quit the game and after launching PSNES again all save state slots are empty.

Yep, saves empty.

This app isn't as fidgety as pFBA. You could just unzip whatever you have and put them in a roms folder. No need to hunt for anything special. For /Switch folder, have a pSNES folder that has the .nro and a roms folder in it.

Despite being a port of mainline Snee9x, the speed here is impressive. I’ve just tried both Doom and Yoshi’s Island and neither drop a frame. Doom in particular is impressive.
I have noticed some slowdowns in Earthbound, though the audio never slows, just the game.
Edit: may just be how the snes would have done it.
I also had the screen flash red (as if on a timer, every 30 seconds or so) in some places.

You have to be careful with the naming of your ports.
If you port a NES emulator and decide to name it pNES it's gonna get real dirty in here....
whatever you do, do not look at his github :D

BTW: My issue with the save states is also present when not using SXOS.
Is there anything I can Domain order to help solving this issue?

I have not tried many roms, but for sure this issue is present with Super Mario Allstars + Yoshi island (Europe)

I just want to thank you for the good work!! Love it!! No problems at all, but last night I docked my switch to play on my tv, after 10 mins playing I got an error. Is this normal? I had to reset my switch. Thank you.

Does this happen if you use less than 4 states as well? I've been using save states without trouble but I've rarely used more than 2.

I have removed all PSNES files again and reinstalled it on my SD Card. I guess there was something wrong with my previous save states (Migration from 1.3 to 1.5?!)
Now it is working.

Just a quick question, I've been following this thread since day one of release without trying it (until tonight) but even 24 pages in and not quite sure on 1 small detail

Is the save state working (on the latest official release) and how do I trigger it within a game ?

I am sure it's been answered but I've read contradicting comments in this thread so hoping somebody could clear it up please

Thanks all

Its working for me, to bring up the menu press + and - at the same time, it's the 3rd option, make sure that when you finish playing, to not lose your save states or sram, close the game with the menu and exit the emulator pressing +, not using the home button.
