Hi there,

I have a problem with my ez-cart 2.
I can put my backups on the cart, but when I try to load the roms it just hangs.
It doesn't matter which rom i burn on the cart.
Because I know that megaman exe always works, I've downloaded other megaman exe roms from the USA Japan and PAL,
but they don't even boot.
I allready cleaned the connector, formatted the flash card and all that kind of stuff.
by the by the EZ-Cart menu works sometimes, it often stays on a blue screen.

Is this cart dead?

ok I shall try installing a new battery,
tnx

Isn't the battery only used for saves?
How to flash new firmware, or even, what firmware to flash?
I have been searching on google for a while but never found anything about flashing firmware on the ezcart 2

Battery is used for saving and RTC iirc.

I also got no clue on how to update the EZ 2's internal firmware.
My guesses where that it was updated as soon as you downloaded the new client........

A strange thing is,
when I converted the nes game Castlevania (yes i own the original cartridge also) the game itself didn't boot up but I still can get to the pocketnes menu while pressing L+R.

Alas I only have the basic client (no cart or linker) over VNC right now so I can not try much but this sounds like you have a dying ROM chip (basics load but those only need a few kilobytes but get no further- roms tend to be larger)- on the second pulldown menu (3.26 in English calls it operation) do a rom check.

it doesn't seem to have problems.
It keeps telling:
NO1BLOCK OK
NO2BLOCK OK

etc.

I Assume that NO stands for number?

Shall i try reflowing the chip?
Maybe a solderpoint came lose

Yeah NO is a short form of number.

If you have a hot air/IR station or an iron capable of doing it (not that I would like to reflow with an iron- surface soldering is one thing but reflow another) give it a spin. I reckon you have done all of the simple hardware things and software stuff (edit- I assume you have tried other machines and versions of the software- the last few updates were purely for DS games so you can go back to 3.19 I think it was quite easily).
