Well it looks like I had better get Hotspot shield running. Oooh and Peerblock.
Those literally won't do anything to protect you.
Yeh, those encrypt the connection between other peers but when the computer has to get the information back to your computer it uses a non-encrypted connection which means you're still being watched.
I guess I should give porn up then if I'm being spied on.

I googled "Google Police raid torrent...", and this is the first link I got. http://www.hackinthebox.org/index.php?name...e&sid=37426

QUOTE said:
South Korean police raided Google's Seoul office on Tuesday, the latest in a series of legal challenges the company is facing because of data collected by its controversial fleet of "Street View" cars.

Google has been preparing since late last year to launch its "Street View" service in South Korea, and the data collection was related to the launch, police said. The probe in one of Asia's most wired countries came as a fresh setback to Google, which already faces investigation over "Street View" by 37 U.S. states as well as an informal investigation by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, and a variety of probes overseas and class action lawsuits.

Google confirmed in an emailed statement that South Korean police visited the company's office in conjunction with their investigation around data collection by Street View cars. It said the company would cooperate with the investigation.

whats wrong with them south koreans, harassing google like that?

this has nothing to do with [insert site name here] its all about the topsites. which in that regard this was a pretty hefty blow. some ppl arrested some rights trampled.

what does this mean for you? absolutely nothing. the main topsites affected were lax anyways and the siteops were stupid (polish siteop especially if u guys knw who im talking of)

p2p will not stop bc of this. site not mentioned will not go down, altho the topsites feeding it might slow for a bit, so you bottom feeders will be SOL for a tad.

from tapes to BBS to today, piracy is rampant and only growing. the mafiaa and the riaa are going about this totally bass ackwards. if they want to stop piracy, join a business model that works. sites like hulu shouldnt be small and localized. they and torrent tech should be the main distributors of movies, games, and tv. why wouldnt you pirate tv shows if the legit version of season 4 of dexter only just came out in the UK, way way after the US. that doesnt make any sense. and yet they wonder why ppl pirate. another example, why even still push dvds and cds when one decent harddrive could fit everything?

digital distribution isnt the future, its right now. right here. globally. and it works. the music, game, and film industrys are so antiquated and out of the loop that they are digging their own graves.

anyways thats my two cents and rant for the day. peace.

I'm going to be honest.. If the site you're mentioning is the one I'm thinking of and it's somehow back I'm kind of glad it's back, I get alot of torrents from there and it's not like it ever stays down..

Also about that rule you posted am I allowed to post That one XKCD comic that references a torrent site by name?

Dudes, get over it..... I torrent a lot (I currently have close to 1.5 tb of hard drive used) but I have only rarely use that particular site, I prefer a more "demonic" semi-private tracker that does not track child porn or been under attack by government in general. Imho private trackers are better because they have rules, moderation and tend to be tighter when it comes to keeping it on the down low, even when I use it for *gasp* porn.
Besides, private trackers are more searchable, have fewer duped or nuked files, are rather friendly, and often have very good seeding policies.

Mind you, I'm a bit saddened to hear this news, since it means that the governments and entertainment industries of the world have not yet matured and still need to hear the people and what they want.
But that is just the way the world is.....until we change it.

Just get on Private trackers kids. "that site" sucks too in general
You say it like anything on private trackers isn't released on that site in a few hours....
I can never find anything on that site. At least real small artists.that site is usually hit and miss for quality too.

i.e. the new Eminem album might come out on it a few hours after but not some small electronic outfit.

Also in general private trackers will tell you exactly what bitrate the files are in and are much more organized.
