Pokemon Presents June 24th - "online team battle game" Pokemon Unite announced

What mysteries could the Pokemon series have to show us, in today's Pokemon Presents event? Following directly upon the other "Presents" that took place a few days ago, whatever this reveal is, The Pokemon Company considers it "a big project", so come find out what it is, when the stream begins at 8am CDT!

It begins with a trailer going over the history of how Pokemon has impacted people, by letting them battle, trade, and play together, in both TCG and video game form. The first "Pokemon Team Battle" game is here in Pokemon Unite. Tencent will help with the release of this game while TiMi Studios will assist in development. The goal for the game is to be an easily accessible coop Pokemon game for anyone to pick up and play. It'll have two teams of five Pokemon in each fight. For every wild Pokemon you defeat, your chosen Pokemon, that begins at level 1, will level up and learn new moves, or even evolve. It's free to play, and will be on mobile and Switch, with support for cross-play.

Gameplay is shown, where players pick their favorite Pokemon, ranging from Pikachu, Lucario, Charizard, Snorlax, and more. They're all in their pre-evolved forms except Lucario and Snorlax. When scoring on the opponent's side, the Squirtle evolves into Wartortle. You can destroy goals to stop opponents from healing. This is pretty much best described as a Pokemon MOBA.

The launch information will come at a later date.

That's a wrap.

Probably gonna be the mobile game by Tencent or Detective Pikachu.
Well damn, you were right. It's a mobile MOBA developed by Tencent (that's also on the Switch). :/

Clearly they want some of that Chinese money after being locked out of the region for several decades, fans in the rest of the world be damned.

I definitely didn't expect a Pokemon MOBA, but after all the time I put in DOTA 2, I'm sure I'll definitely get some fun out of this. Though I'll definitely be playing the Switch version, can't imagine trying to play such a game on mobile.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
