Pokemon Crystal (3ds VC) Save Question

    Quick question, I performed these steps

    1. Use Checkpoint to export file.
    2. Copy the save.dat to where the rom is.
    3. Rename the save.dat to pokemon.sav.
    4. import the save file via import->Battery file
    5. Use your cheats.
    6. Rename the save file back to save.dat.
    7. reimport the save file back into your VC game.
    So I took my legit copy of Pokemon Crystal VC for 3ds and exported the save, changed the save file name and imported it into Mgba bingo everything worked. Now my question is if and when I put it back into my 3ds will the Celebi event trigger as normal? I seen some people kinda say yes because its a game version thing not a save issue others no i just dont wanna mess anything up. Thanks in advanced.

    So you've loaded your save from your 3DS into an emulator, and you want to cheat to get the Celebi event and then put the save back on the 3DS? I don't see a reason this wouldn't work. Don't forget to back up your save file just in case.

      @Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!

      I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it

      I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
