So now that the game's been out a few weeks, do we know anything more about this "anti-cheat"?

This is most likely to detect memory modification for use in tournaments or online battles. I don't see how they could detect a modification to a save and even if they somehow did they'd probably deploy that as a game update.

not to be a dick or anything but why is this thread still open and active... that little anti-cheat hurdle has been trampled already because of Nintendo's lacking security measures

Is the anti-cheat even in affect? It's separate from the actual games right?

I think the current theory is that it might be a tool to detect "cheats" in competitions. It was found in the eShop data as an application, right? So of course it's probably not something implemented into the game directly.

People claiming it's worthless because we can still inject are being a little short-sighted.

bannwave when?
Only if they find a lot of illegal activity at once. People were more careful (less stupid) with this leak. So no major flag was thrown to Nintendo. If this is indeed a tool for detecting hacks, it may become required at championships and then those who participate and are caught might be banned.

Of course, it could be nothing. Could be a scrapped idea they haven't taken down yet for all we know.

Except most people install the .firm to the CTR NAND so they can just remove the sd card and move the game-specific data to a clean one while keeping CFW. So that would only catch the dumb ones.

Weird. I can understand a cheat detection system online, but again this was found in eShop data. Still, until someone gets banned all we have is speculation.

if this new one exists then it probably checks stat changes and health values
along with invalid moves or abilitys
in sun and moon if you go online with a pkm that has an inappropriate name you cant battle or trade for like 6 hours

Are you being for real, cause that's hard to believe, DK is Nintendo and made in japan, Sea of thieves was from Microsoft, in America. I'm not calling you a liar, just didn't know.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ok yes they were both made by Rare, but DK was from Rare back then, Rare now is owned by MS. So makes since.
