Seems like Plex got an update. When I first got my Wii U, this didn't work, and I've tried several times.
I found out last night that it now supports the Wii U web browser and was about to make a thread, but found this.
In any case for those wondering I haven't tried all formats but I haven't had a single issue with any of my files, and digging through them, there's .mp4 and .avi . It's absolutely brilliant, saves me a shit ton of money because I was literally going to head out today to get myself one of those media players (eg. Roku).
I'll be testing .mkv later today and I'll let you know how that turns out, although I should think that it works since Plex transcodes, I believe.
Also it plays all videos at original res as far as I can see.
