PC won't recognize R4S dongle after connecting with USB cable.

The dongle is used to boot into Hekate fine but when I tried to connect the dongle with PC through a micro USB cable it won't show up as a drive...so I can't update the files in it. Tried clicking and double clicking while connected and nothing showed up on PC. Tested the USB with other devices and it worked fine, so this is definitely not USB or PC problem.

The LED was lit when connected and responded by changing from bright purple to light blue when I double clicked it while connecting.

One thing of note is that the cable is a new one since I lost the original USB cable a long time ago. Does this thing work even if I don't use its original cable?

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

if is a original one you can try to upgrade the firmware, but it is a aliexpress clone you are out of luck.

If is an original one, pressing the front button while connecting to PC will enable the Firmware update mode, but it's almost sure you have a fake one which can not be upgrade nor repaired. look into the thread https://gbatemp.net/threads/fake-rcmloader-dongles-in-the-wild.620470

It's not RCMLoader that I'm using though..I thought R4S is a very different thing.

The R4S light up the LEDs when you connect it to PC?

for the R4s you need to connect to PC to charge the internal battery and for the PC recognice it as a device you need to double press the front button.
