Hello guys, I'm trying to run New Super Mario, but I think I have to update my IOS 53 with truch bug...

I tried to use DOP-IOS MOD, but as I entered the aplication it asked which IOS I wanted to use and I don't wanna risk my Wii.

I have:

Wii 4.1
cIOS249 r14
HBC v1.0.6
NeoGamma r8b12

Do I really need to update my IOS???

Which IOS I choose in the first screen of DOP-IOS MOD?

Thanks again.
choose 249
and then download IOS 53
there isnt really a risk of brick at all

Okay, so I want to get NSMB for my 3.2E PAL console. I just installed the homebrew channel thingy and I placed the cIOS 38 rev 13 in my SD card /apps/cios and the boot.dol (renamed it to that) I have the wad file in a wad folder.

So I choose ios 38 rev 14, wad installation and then it tells me: Mounting SD card... ok! Reading "IOS38-64-v3610.wad, please wait.. ERROR! (ret= -1)

Any clue what to do at this point? Probably has something to do with my wad not being placed right or anything?

Also, what do I do after I got this working? Get a USB loader and put NSMB.iso on it?

Do take note that I haven't used or updated my Wii in a loooong time so please go easy on me.

Hi guys.

I'd like to get to 4.2 and make sure I do this right.
(Currently to play NSMBWii I've just been running it thru Gecko)

I'm on 4.0U (can't remember if that was an official download or a waninkoko hack or something) Haven't really kept up on the Wii scene and was wondering if someone could help me get up to speed on what I might be missing?

I let HBC auto update with its hackmii or whatever. Got the latest HBC, the latest DVDx...I didn't touch Bootmii because I don't understand it.

Not sure where to go from here... Thanks. Do I need some sort of special waninkoko 4.1 first before getting to 4.2?

OK, I've just done that and everything installed successfully. However, when I start the game, it still gives me a blank screen and locks up. I've tried Regionfrii and also starting it up with Gecko without patching it in any way.

how about neogamma? if http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ba...-launchers/disc. after using this and the game still won't load, probably a bad burn or bad rip. check also on game compatibility issues here by wiipower: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=123307.

in as much as i want to be specific on what to do; can't help you because i don't use that game.

edit: i usually encounter such black screen issue when i am try to force ntsc to play a pal game. anyways still check on the compatibility issue if there's any.

yay it worked!.. I downloaded neogamma like you said and though it didn't work at first, I played about with the settings in neogamma and finally got it working!

Thank you so much!

Btw. Is it worth updating the wii to 4.1J?.... (Jap wii on 3.2J)

it depends on your preferences. 4.x only adds on sd card menu. if you don't have much vc/wiiware, i don't see the reason why you need the sd card menu. beside you could just use triiforce also to install all the vc/wiiware games that you want into your sd/hdd so who needs the sd card menu. on my point of view better stay at 3.2. if only i have known triiforce earlier, i would have just stayed at 3.2 also.

I have a few questions that I really could use some help with though, first I am using wiiflow 1.1 on a fat 32 partition and a WBFS partition for the games. I own an NTSC wii so the question is can I leave the iso's as PAL when I add them to the harddrive, or should they be changed to ntsc before adding them? Are there any downsides or conflicts to leaving them as PAL?

Also after playing some games, I decide to exit to the system menu and it won't, It exits the game and I loose the Audio Video and need to reboot or power down the wii, then power it back up and go back into wiiflow to choose another game. Is the Wiiflow folder storing bad data or this error in the configuration settings because it seems to causes some games that had no issues before to not want to boot, they just go to the black screen. I then power down the wii go back to the wiiflow menu and that game might be working again. I know that there are a few games that need tweaking, could it be these games that are causing the issues with the rest.

Hi, im new here and ive just installed a few hacks on my wii

my firmware is 3.2u and the first thing i did was the twilight hack to install bootmii/hbc/dvdx and everything went smoothly. Afterwards i installed softmii and then my hbc menu is all upside down. I heard the way to fix is to simply reinstall hbc. so i tried to reinstall it, and when the bootmii menu show sup it says hbc and dvdx cant be installed because "there is no usable IOS for the channel" well, what does that mean and what can i do to fix it?

Hey guys,

Just a quick question....

I have a wii here that has that SoftMii v1.0 shit on it (system menu 3.2e with cisocorp) and I want to get rid of cisocorp and update to 4.2.

Can I just do an official update from nintendo then hack 4.2 from there. Or should I follow xzxero's guide HERE and do it that way?

I'm thinking both methods will get rid of cisocorp but I'm not 100% sure.

So can someone please clear this up a bit for me?

Cheers!

no need to patch the game. loaders have video mode options like: force NTSC; AutoPatch; etc. so let the loader do the adjustments for you. leave the game as it is. you could check some game compatibility here if there is a need to:http://wiki.gbatemp.net:8080/wiki/index.ph...kup_Launcher_v3

regarding wiiflow; i do not experience that kind of problem. its been a long time since i had used wiiflow so kinda forgot the settings. mmm....better check also the wiiflow settings. as far as i remember there is a setting there for returning to the system menu...if i remember it correctly. wiiflow GUI is great but a bit buggy for me so i shifted to using uLoader instead.

first of all welcome dude. why did you use softmii? you must have installed cioscorp included in the package right? then do this guide: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/other-stuff/fix-hbc. it is because cioscorp changes ios on your wii. this is caused by the installation of a trucha signed ios that is used by the HBC. just read the guide.

btw, check on what ios does your HBC uses. that is what you have to install. i forgot that you are on 3.2 and don't have ios61 yet...or maybe not because you just downgraded from 4.x and just returned to 3.2? anyways just check on what ios does HBC uses and read the guide.

you have several options but only one purpose...to restore all the official ios of your wii to get rid of the cios installed by cioscorp: you could use: da_letter_a's cioscorp uninstaller; det1re's uncorp; dop-ios mod; or do it manually by using NUSD then install ios wads through wad manager.

or check on this: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/other-stuff/virgin

Which newb thread is the best to use here? I'm seeing conflicting reports about updating to 4.2 or not before doing any hacking. Using a black 4.1E Wii.

So at the moment I'm using Neogamma and Gecko.... Is there a way to install on the Wii menu as "channels" instead of accessing them from the homebrew channel?...

Im really lost in all this new fancy mods, I have a d2ckey and HBC on 4.0E, and never had anything else because I've been able to run any game I've ever tried.
But now NSMBW is non functional and I have no idea where to start. It says I can use Neogamma, but I assume Neogamma wont work on my setup. my question is:
where to start? do I need to install any of those custom IOS things or backup loaders. just a nod in the right direction would be helpful. The most complex thing I've done to my Wii is use bannerbomb to install Homebew Channel...

[EDIT]
is this guide updated and compatible with my use?
http://usbloadergx.koureio.net/help/readmii

[EDIT]
works perfectly, thanks.
