I formatted my drive last night to exfat with 32768kb partitions, is that going to cause problems because fat32 wouldn't show up.
edit: also does the initial homebrew install have to be through sd card or can i just install letterbomb to my drive and go from there?

Please use only FAT32.

Please use the FAT32 Format Tool
FAT32format GUI
from my Signature.:)

Thank you.:)

If you don't have an SD card you can install the homebrew channel with str2hax, flashhax or bluebomb

https://gbatemp.net/threads/a-channel-less-sd-less-entry-point-str2hax.523210/page-9#post-8907177

The main thing you can't do without an SD card is use bootmii to make or restore a nand backup. So be careful, don't go installing random untested or unsafe wads or themes

Edit: you might still be able to install bootmii though, be sure to try

I dunno. I have mine formatted to fat32, and it's just for wii games. my gamecube games are on the sd card. I've never heard of ntfs being usable.
NTFS works fine for external USB hard drive so long as you are only doing Wii games (you must use FAT32 for GameCube), at least on USB Loader GX. I was told as much here back in 2012 and it has worked ever since. Although I use a FAT32-formatted SanDisk USB Flash Drive almost all the time, I do keep an NTFS 2TB drive with all of my Wii games and plug it in from time to time to play an obscure game that's not on one of my flash drives.

Although you can use a larger-than-32 gigabytes SD card, transfer speeds are slower via that interface on the Wii than USB. My 32 gigabyte SD card is nearly full with RockBand 3 DLC and customs, so I will eventually get a 64G SD card out of necessity.

Someone mentioned FAT16 as an option (a file system from the early 80s I haven't dealt with since the mid-1990s). It has a max size of 2 gigabytes. Don't use FAT16 unless you go back to the 20th Century in a time machine or if you inherit one of the first digital cameras from your grandparents.

Hello.:)

As our Wii Update and ModMii Master @XFlak would suggest:

USE ModMii for the Update.

Please use the link in my Signature.:)

It is the easiest and safest Way.I think you have also install the Priiloader again after the Update.

Thank you.:)

Hi there!
I wanted to boot up my old Wii on which I installed BootMii (on boot2) and the Homebrew Launcher eons ago. Stupid thing: I currently don't have a wiimote at my disposal, so I wanted to use Gamecube controllers to start the HBC with Bootmii.

But when I want to launch the HBC, the screen goes black and nothing happens. The Wii menu works, but without a Wiimote I can't even get past the Health & Safety Notice, not to mention: Launch the damn HBC from there. :/

I already searched for how to install the HBC from Bootmii, but nothing showed up. Is there some special .elf I could launch from bootmii, can I just copy some file on my SD card, or do I have to get a wiimote in order to launch the HBC?

Thanks in advance. Cheers. ^.^

There is a way to configure your Wii to boot up into USB Loader GX, so I'm sure someone will chime in with info on how to go straight to the HBC, though you may need to borrow a Wiimote to make the change on the Wii side, but if you want to play the best games (by far) that console has to offer, you'll need to upgrade to a Wiimote.

It's not that I don't have a Wiimote, it's just not available atm (and don't worry: I've played quite a few Wii games ; ).

Just wanted to play some good old retro games on a CRT TV and the Wii with an emulator seemed like the easiest option to deliver a composite video signal to do that on short notice (without ordering a Raspberry Pi, or something like that).

Yes,please be sure if your Wii IS PAL to use 4.3E.
I guess your Wii was NOT Region changed before ?

Thank you.:)
Wad manager doesn't let me install systemmenu4.3.wad.

:-?

Perhaps it would be better restore nand backup from sd and do wii.guide again from scratch but this time first upgrade to 4.3.
