atmosphere\contents\4200000000000010\flags\boot2.flag <= Delete this file.
switch\ldnmitm_config <= Delete this whole folder.
Reboot the switch if done with FTP or with a homebrew file manager. In short if you did this while the switch was on, reboot it!

Easter didn’t depend on having an “online” time synced switch. This was their attempt at stopping hackers. If your sx os time sync’s doesn’t work. Download switch-time and force sync it. That should resolve your issue. Also only use the directories folder and passphrase.bin

I guess so because it's definitely not due to the update.
Not really, you just need to have patience and time. There is actually absolutely no reason to trade stuff with other people except to speed things up. So it's not like pokémon in that regard.
Actually in Europe there is at least one item you can't have without trading it with non european player (or cheats)

In fact there is already a flag to have in game "Region Locked Items"
Sure but that's like one item. Not a museum collectible. So again you can complete your museum collection on your own. So unless you want a few exclusive furniture or items there is no reason to. But that's no different from timed events and amiibo unlocks and so on.
Again unless you go the insane route of collecting every single piece of furniture or clothing there there is no reason to. And even if you are going to do that you would only miss like a few items. So again no this isn't like pokémon at all. You can safely complete your museum collection on your own.

Yes you just follow the guide again to the letter. Only you use an updated BCAT file.
And yes the updated BCAT file exists,but like it says in the guide I can't link to it. So use Google,reddit,discord or so untill you find it.

So on one of my switches I am able to trigger events no issues. On my wife's switch however the bcats will not update the version number no matter what I try. I have tried both the fixes outlined in the op along with setting my time to sync with euro servers . I have tried with the mayday and museum bcats both which worked on my switch but not on my wife's (I might add we have the same setup atmosphere 0.12.0, addons and such). Any ideas on what could be the reason she is stuck on 1.2.0 and is not able to activate events via bcat?

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.+1 -
