The response wasn't meant to be heartfelt.

You said youtube. Not "browse the web.

No kidding. Anyways, it's clear that there's no browser so I withdraw my question since it was a stupid question, apparently. Anyways, I don't even care.

Yeah, this might be a case where the hacking scene has made Nintendo reconsider some of the things they include, including a web browser, where we'd have far more potential of finding vulnerabilities. Thing is they must be aware that there are far more ways to get an exploit running than just a web browser. Beyond that, look at the sales of the 3DS and the original Wii, these two systems were heavily exploited, yet they still sold fantastically well, conversely, the Wii U was only very recently hacked wide open, and both prior and after getting hacked, it made no difference, the system sold very poorly. So if Nintendo truly believes that stopping exploits before they happen is what will guarantee them the most profits, I'm really not so sure about that.

As a portable, I wouldn't care if the Switch didn't have an internet browser, I have a great smartphone on me at all times that I readily use to browse the internet. However, as a home console, it is a bit of a bummer (if its true), i use the browser on my Wii U all the time, I love to use it to watch cartoons and anime on Kisscartoon and kissanime respectively. On the other hand, utilizing a browser on your TV without a gamepad for navigation would be so infuriating that I likely wouldn't use it, which is exactly what has happened with my PS4, yeah it has a browser, but I never use it because navigating it with a standard PS4 controller is a nightmare.

Oh joy, something else to pay for.

Well its not so bad, mobile would be completely optional, where you can still always connect to wifi at no fee. Which is what I'd do regardless, if I want to get a mobile connection on my Switch, I'd turn my phone into a mobile wifi hotspot so that I don't have to pay for another device on my monthly mobile bill.

The Wii U lacks an app for viewing Twitch streams (something I would love to watch on the TV, hooking a PC to it isn't an option for me), but I got by with the internet browser. If the Switch lacks both, I'll be quite upset.

I've seen a few rumors that not only make mention of the Switch having a Twitch app, but that Nintendo would try to cater to streamers and esports. Don't know how true any of it is, but I've seen it more than once. It's clear that a lot still has to be revealed about the Switch (they've yet to even touch on the Virtual Console yet, but I wouldn't be surprised by the Gamecube support and Mother 3 rumors), so time will tell.

Well that's cool, just hope they don't drop the ball with virtual console and such.

We know that NERD is developing the emulators this time (as they did with the NES Mini), so we know from the get go the emulation quality won't be utter garbage this time around. What I hope for is proper N64 audio emulation, and not the crap they pulled by using linear audio interpolation on DK64 (I even did a comparative test between real N64 audio and the Wii U VC, the latter sounds worse) :P I hope they don't drop the ball either, on the VC, and the Switch has screenshot capabilities; I hear video recording will come at some point.

Sad that you think the switch will be hacked easily

Are you kidding me?
Nintendo pays a fortune so the console won't be hacked and please don't expect this console to be cracked soon

It will take at least two years. I think it will be as secure as the PS4 or Xbox one so guys chill out and enjoy your bought games

That didn't change the fact that the 3DS still ended up getting hacked.

I don't think anyone is expecting a hack immediately at all. Its just a matter of people seeing hacking as an inevitability eventually, and when you include a browser, you leave your console more vulnerable to exploits than if you didn't include a browser. And that's all there really is to the theory as to why the browser may not be on the system. Well that an the fact that a web browser on the TV without a gamepad would be very frustrating to navigate and if you're looking to go on the web portably, you'd probably be more inclined to use your smartphone. I can see a few mentalities as to why they might have removed the browser. Not saying I'd agree with the idea, but I understand where such a move could come from.

And it took a while for the 3DS to get hacked.

Sure, but my point is that it will likely happen eventually just as it did to the 3DS and the Wii U. Nintendo likely recognizes this, and if they did remove the browser due to a perceived relation to hacking systems, it was probably done in hopes of prolonging even more how long it is before the system is eventually hacked.
