Nintendo 64 accessory 64Mate begins its Kickstarter campaign

Are you willing to pledge money for better storage of your Nintendo 64 peripherals? That's the question asked by Australian Shane Battye, as he kicks off his Kickstarter campaign for the 64Mate. The 64Mate is designed to house accessories and games by acting as a storage caddy and attaching itself to the bottom of your Nintendo 64 console. They can also be stacked, if you want to create a Frankenstein level tower of Nintendo 64-related goodness that reaches the heavens. If you're interested in the project, it costs just under $50 USD to back it, with $4,000 currently reached out of a goal of $38,000, at the time of writing.

If someone tried to throw this thing away the trashcan would probably throw it back at them.

At first I thought it was some kind of 64DD / Backup loader...
But who needs a storage caddy for their N64 stuff? And the price is just...eugh...

Who is the target audience for that product?
A landfill.

"it costs just under $50 USD" wooa dude, its not JUST, its expensive for a empty plastic..waaay everpriced for where i live at least. And its not official on top of that. Even if it is its still expensive so please dont put "just", it sounds like TopShop ad.
Only price information is ok, without "just". :teach:

if it was like 20$ maybe then people would get it for novelty, but 50$ for some basic plastic crap any company in china could make for 50 cents its a steal imo.

What a ridiculous price for a ridiculous accessory nobody needs. Seriously, who "actually" needs this? Why keep your games under your console? You're just making the console look huge for no reason.

At least the Wii shelf, which I THINK was Nintendo branded, was an actual shelf, albeit also embarassingly small (only held maybe 6 or 12 games, a few peripherals, and the console didn't even sit flush).

inb4 New tower of power
they beat you to the punch, they actually said this in the kickstarter page
The 64Mate will be available in two basic configurations:

  • 'Standard Enclosure' model (designed around housing video upscalers and other electronic devices with an added front-facing artwork frame)
  • 'Cart Caddy' model (designed with an open front and cartridge slots)
The units can be stacked to create a Nintendo 64 TOWER OF POWER!!
but I think for something to be classed as a "tower of power" each additional item in the stack should add some sort of power/feature.....if this would count you could just stick an N64 on top of a bookcase and call it a tower of power
