Bioware concluded its epic Mass Effect trilogy earlier this year, capping off a series that began back in 2007. Ending-rending aside, the series received has great adulation and praise from both critics and fans alike.

With Shepard's story concluded, many wondered what would be next for the franchise. Well, it seems like we may have our answer.

The next Mass Effect game has a rough release window of late 2014 to mid 2015. Mass Effect 3producer Mike Gamble told Gamer Syndrome(via Eurogamer) that full development started "a month or two ago," and we can expect to hear more in 2013.

...Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson previously asked fans whether they would like the next game to be a sequel or prequel, and noted significant interest in playable non-human protagonists. It looks like we'll find out sometime next year if and how their feedback has impacted development.

With an incredibly richly detailed universe, there is a wide range for possibilities open for the franchise. Will it attempt to follow after the narrative of ME3, perhaps to soothe the crunched colons of outraged fans? Or will it take us backwards, reveling in what can only be called a "loregasm"?

Only time will tell, though personally, my money's on dance simulator.

I tried the first game for about an hour or something and didn't really like it. Just a personal preference, it seemed like a pretty decent game. I just can't stand most RPGs for more than about an hour... And that includes stuff like Skyrim which nearly the whole world seems to love.

I still don't quite understand...
how an ancient A.I. came to be known as "The God Child" by butthert fans... it obviously just chose that form to appeal to Sheperd since he/she saw the kid die in the beginning of the game. there was nothing supernatural about it. Sure, it's a deus ex machina in the sense that a character we didn't know existed suddenly appears in the final scene...but it still made perfect sense.

Honestly, I hope this will be a prequel, but not be titled Mass Effect 4. I'd like to see the beginning of the story, pull a Halo Reach. Show us what happened before Shepard. Then at the end, show Shepard getting ready for the events in Mass Effect 1.

I've got 1+2 (steam sales) but haven't started them... was over at a friend's house yesterday and he was playing the first one in preparation for getting the second from gamefly, so I watched him play a bit (between farting on his cat and his son) and the series really looks like something I should get started on.

I got warned about the elevators already.

Eh, it's not that big of a deal. No worse than the loading times on the WiiU's OS. It's just a way to mask the loading times for the game... think of it as shooting the doors in Metroid Prime.

I think it SHOULD have Shepard in it, ether a prequel or even another sequel. It just won't feel like Mass Effect without Shepard....... Unless, maybe a spinoff game about Garrus, Grunt or Wrex. I could deal with a Mass Effect game like that.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
