Sorry for the noob question but after researching this problem and reading a few threads on this site and on a couple others, I still don't know what to do.
A friend gave me his modded Wii which has the NeoGaf mod installed. Everything worked fine until the remote stopped working. I bought a new remote and it works fine with regular games but as soon as I go into the homebrew screen or try to load a game from a USB drive, the light on the remote goes away and when I press a button, all 4 start to flash after starting cfgloader. When I launch homebrew, the light just stays off.
I read a post from someone who said that there's a workaround that will let you create shortcuts to each game. WiiGSC is the name of the app but I don't know how to install this. Do I just copy it to my USB drive, run it and configure the options or do I have to put it on an SD card, load it into the Wii and run it from there?
I've never modded a Wii so I'm unsure about what the steps are.

edit: If I need to install a different loader or mod the Wii all over again, do I first need to remove the current mod on the Wii?

edit:3: I fixed the problem by downloading the latest version of the boot.dol file here - https://code.google.com/p/cfg-loader-mod/downloads/list - as instructed by kano in another thread.
