Hardware New 3DS XL Hyrule edition screen IPS or TN?

Hi there,

I need someone help who have seen lot of 3DS screens.

Recently, i am looking for a back-up system if anything goes wrong with my beloved New 3DS XL Majora's Maks console.
My console has an upper IPS screen and a bottom TN sreen. I just checked it with 3DSident. It is 100% sure.

Please look at my uploaded pictures about my console for reference (8 pictures with a single console).
I took the photos late night with some background lightning (not in a full dark room).

Now i see an auction on eBay about a New 3DS XL Hyrule Edition, perfect pair for my Majora's Mask.
I asked the seller to make some photo. He made 2 photos with very low resolution (low quality) but i also upload it.

The eBay seller has 2 pieces of 3DS XLs, comparing each other side by side.
The one on the LEFT is the Hyrule edition (in which i am interested), on the right side of the picture is a standard New 3DS XL.

I think the seller's Hyrule Edition console on the left side has got an upper IPS and a lower TN panel. But I am not sure.

Can anyone confirm this to me?
(I would glad if more people would confirm this, not just a single opinion. I made a poll to simply vote as well. Only one answer allowed.)

I have only abot 2 days to decide. The poll will end in 2 days.

They both look like tn to me. Ask the seller to use the same program to confirm that they are ips

Thank you for your answer, but it's too late, I have already bought it. To me it seemed an upper IPS screen, just like my Majora's mask. The blue bar on the upper corner remains blue in tight angle. I hope it is an IPS screen. I will find out soon.
The owner did not hack this unit so he could not install 3dsident Homebrew app. So it is a lottery after all...

He can not use 3dsident.

He could not even tell me the firmware number, he said he do not know where he finds it.

I guess it is on latest firmware and the owner wanted to hide this fact or he does not care. He said he has multieple other 3ds consoles so he does not need the Hyrule edition.

But he gave me 2 other photos with lighter conditions. I attach those 2 photos.

If he isn't willing to confirm them as IPS then I wouldn't pay for them if I were you, you might just get both as TN, base on the pictures it is possible to tell as it is blurry.

Sorry guys for my late confirmation, but the New 3DS XL Hyrule edition i bought is indeed top IPS bottom TN panel, just like my Majora's Mask.
I hacked it last week and confirmed though 3DSident.

Interestingly it says that my console is 3DS RED! Why red? Is it a fake one with printed covers?
It seems legit to me, the console is in very good condition. Even the package seems legit.
I hope the case is Nintendo made Majora's mask and Hyrule editions from red consoles.

RED is the codename for the n3DSXL model. It has nothing to do with special editions or shell colors. It's short for infrared.

Recently bought two used N3DSXL, both with the metallic blue finish, and 3DSident says they are NEW 3DS XL - RED (EUR Retail).

One is dual TN, the other one dual IPS.

When I got the first one, I thought the seller (professional used console seller) might have had done modifications to it, but the second one belonged to a family so definitely no modifications there... so maybe it's normal...

Hello. May I ask what region are both your 3DS XL's the Majora's mask and Hyrule?
In my case I bought two brand new and both of them were top IPS and bottom TN

MM edition was US/N.America
Hyrule edition was European.

Im done dual IPS hunting. Lol.

If there is no backlight he sold you a IPS top screen. Look all brightness settings if you dont see backlight from screen brightness setting its possible he swapped the top screen to IPS.
