So, I messed up. I got a crack on my screen, at first there were a few dead pixels and it was pretty small, but it was annoying nonetheless. Slowly but surely, the dead pixels disappeared... until the crack expanded further and further and now there are dead pixels all over the top of the screen. Some of them have been noticeably expanding vertically, others have been retracting. I couldn't find any repair shops that do New 3ds in my area, and my warranty ran out (even if it didn't I have CFW). I have watched those "get rid of dead pixels" videos on YouTube on my 3ds but they didn't make a difference. Here's a picture:https://m.imgur.com/a/5OZzR. Sorry for low quality, what can I do about it? I don't want to buy a new 3ds as that would be pretty expensive.

Replace the screen yourself then...

Two things: I checked for replacement sceens online and could only find O3ds or 3ds XL, secondly I'd probably fuck my console up as I hear it's the hardest piece to do yourself on O3ds.

If you have a chance to take apart the New 3DS (original), try comparing the top LCD to that of the Old 3DS (original). The reason why you or no one seem to be able to find an replacement LCD is because the two might share the same screen models.

The New 3ds screen is a bit larger than the o3ds screen, so unfortunately that's not possible.

Try contacting this seller on aliexpress. He might carry the part in question.

I think that buying a screen to repair myself would work as a last resort, seeing as I can find barely any documentation on the screen and I'm not good with hardware, but I find it interesting how the black pixels retract and expand, is there a way to get rid of them without necessarily replacing the screen? I know it's very unlikely there is but I think I'm screwed every other way.

Do you drink tea from a cracked tea cup? Maybe one slightly chipped on the brim, that's your favorite cup, and you don't want to let it go.

Well, that's exactly like what your broken LCD is.

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

Did you feed the hamster in your internet router? It prob died and is running slow now.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
