That's pretty cool. Maybe if they aren't packaging an emulator into every game, the VC games will be a little cheaper? That's probably just me hoping in vain, though.
Probably not.
However what they could do is charge a base price for each "console" and charge a little less for the games.

What do you think Virtual Console is?

Individually tweaked ROMs to work with a (shitty) emulator on a per ROM basis using a wrapper. It's not a universal emulator as it's only compatible with the games it was designed for and then some. A universal emulator would have higher compatibility. If it was truly a universal emulator, more ROM injections would work out of the box. The RPX files are emulators + ROMs in a wrapper configured ROM by ROM, every game uses different settings and aren't very compatible at all. But I digress.

Xbox 360 doesn't have a "universal emulator", either. Each game has to be tweaked to run on it correctly. Same with Xbox One's "backwards compatibility" (which is more likely to be recompiled versions of 360 games).

Considering they're not going to let you load your own ROM images or cartridges, there's really no difference between one emulator for all games and packing in an emulator with every game. (No, they're not going to release a cartridge adapter; such a thing would be hacked wide open to be turned into a ROM dumper the moment it comes out.)

Whatever *shrug*. The point still stands that the Wii and Wii U emulators aren't compatible worth garbage. They're not even that great in terms of emulation accuracy. Some injected games have graphics issues, some are missing sound channels, others don't boot at all, when unofficial emulators do the job much better, it's pathetic. I wished people stopped defending how bad they are.

Yeah, but for example, sometimes these "crappy" emulators can be great. For example, since DK64 VC virtually eliminate any lag and glitches, the game doesn't play at all like on the N64, and instead plays like it was intended to during development without the hacky and dirty lag trick used at the time. For example, all 100% DK64 speedruns are done in Wii U VC.

So a emulator is inside the firmware? Not sure what it means, unless somehow planning to release nes games on switch carts in some collection thing. Can someone maybe explain why is a big deal?

dam that would be an expensive thing to do, not only the game but also the game cart in the price, this better be a bundle
but, the emu is there so that(well this is assumed so far but) it's simply downloading a rom and booting into that icon that it adds to the home menu for the game will boot into the onboard emulator instead of each nes game having it's own copy of the emulator and so on for other systems hopefully, or even better we might finally get a central vc hub that you boot into and if you want you can have individual shortcuts on the homemenu for what you want and have less clutter, still hate that you can't customize the home menu organizaion

I dunno, the post gave me the idea nintendo would just release like All their own made NES titles on a cart for like $40 or something. Every nes game nintendo ever made, maybe include some translated japan exclusives like famicom disk system or something. Much like the nes classic but in a cart with roms inside. Honestly not sure what the post means for nes emu inside switch means.

Nes collection vol. 1 Nintendo = All nintendo made games for nes on one collection cart
Nes collection vol. 2 Capcom = All capcom games
Nes collection vol. 3 Konami = All konami games

Who knows, maybe is for games that could include some nes easter egg, like chiptune music, graphics or what not?

It's confirmation that Nintendo plans on selling NES games through their online store and most likely a large part of the reason why they discontinued the NES Mini. They'd rather nickel and dime customers for each game than charge the $60 for a bundle of games. I will almost guarantee the sum cost of all the games that were included in the NES Mini will be more on the online store.

But i thought the games was included with the paid subscription, will there also be separate downloads?

they said they don't want the subscription to replace vc, so for those who don't pay the subscription can still buy vc games
