Hello to all. I'm just trying this awesome emulator and I wonder if it is normal that in the Supercard DSTwo, that has its own processor, frames per secons decrease considerably, for example, in Metal Slug when 2 or more enemies appear. From 60 to 45, and if there are bullets, to 40.
I have read the creator's readme files and that's what I've made:
1. Download the Supercard DSTwo NeoDS plugin from the official thread here in GBATEMP.
2. Download the NeoDS emulator.
3. Copy the content of NeoDS plugin (NeoDS.bmp and NeoDS.ini) into _dstwoplugins folder in my MicroSD.
4. Copy NeoDS.nds of the NeoDS emulator into _dstwoplugins too.
5. Place a already-converted-rom into the root of my MicroSD.

I wonder if it is necessary to copy all the files that are in the NeoDS emulator zip (arm7, arm9, Cyclone2, etc.) in the root of th MicroSD but nothing is said about that in the readme.txt file, and these folders seem to contain headers that are used in the compilation of the bios for flashcards that don't support DIMM or something like that, but Supercard DSTwo does, so I haven't placed them into the MicroSD.

So it is normal that this game runs at 40-45 fps? Should I reconvert MAME rom into .neo file by myself with "special" parameters or something? Any help will be appreciated.

its normal that it'll drop framerate, it does that on any flashcard you use.
the NeoDS emulator does not use the DSTwos processor at all, so your not getting any performance boost.

you could try running the game with the audio toggled off, it may help a little.
also, iirc if youve got a DS lite/phat, NeoDS can use the extra ram from a slot-2 expansion pack.

I can't find roms in .bin format, every neo geo rom I get is in .rom which doesn't work with the conversion tool. Is there only limited games that neods supports? or can i convert those roms to bin and convert it to .neo to get it to work?

I looked on Google and was able to find some zip files of many of the roms (~140) already converted. I cannot link, of course, but it was a first page result so you shouldn't have much trouble finding them.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
