Gaming Need Help Refurbishing DS Lite

The above is said DS Lite that I would like to refurbish. It looks like the person was going to do something with these but changed their mind. I wanted to know how do I test the motherboards to even see if these are usable. I will need to purchase new housings, batteries and chargers for sure know. I have a long road a head but a little push in the right direction would be ever appreciated. Thanks!

I think that the only way to make sure is to reassemble the DS with all key components (mic, both screens, speakers) and manually test all of those to see if they work in unison. I don't think there is any other way.
