I've just went through all of the 15 pages looking for QW1023 and QW1036 Black ones and I can't find their versions.
Does anybody know what version these serial numbers have?

QW1023 should be fine, it would slot in before these 2

I got it from the EB Games near my house (Orillia, ON Canada); they only had 2 N3DSs left, both red. I decided to take a chance on it and see if it was <9.4 and I got lucky.

probably fine it seems the switch to 9.4 happen in the 4000 region, but the serial system is a bit all over the place

people buying the red consoles are just asking for trouble, seems to be mostly 9.4 for red consoles

Just so I'm understanding this correctly, there's been no confirmed US black N3DS XL at or above 9.4 right?

Had to buy another N3DS on ebay since the last guy canceled on me and I wasn't able to see the serial for this one. Hopefully I don't get stuck with a 9.4 with no way to return

Here's mine. The serial number isn't on the main page yet. Serial pic is a little fuzzy, but it's QW4003 for black New 3ds XL.

ya QW4027 has shown up with 2 different firmwares so we're trying to add a few more digits to the number to see if we get somewhere with that
