Thanks for all the help guys, you've been very informative. I have a few other questions;

1) Is it safe to connect to the WiFi and play online whilst in EmuNand despite the update prompt I keep getting?

2) Are there any benefits to updating my emunand or is it fine how it is?

I don't believe you can update emunand past 9.5 on n3ds atm.
