Here's one game I wanted to see so bad in color after knowing about it.
q7q74v7.png

I've never seen the movie, but it caught my attention because of its very strange premise: "The game you've waited 10 million years to play".

As if video games actually existed 10 million years ago.

This Final Fantasy Adventure "DX" hack is really horrible. Just looking at screenshots and playing the intro I said to myself : "this looks like the guy who did the Wario Land colorization", and bingo that's him ! Except what he did to FFA is even worse.

I'm pissed because I'm afraid this might discourage more capable hackers to do a proper colorization of this game, considering there's already some "DX" version out now.

Seriously, don't trust korxo. He does colorizations only for fun, and not to finally give the gaming community what they dream of.

lol I'm being ganged up on on the RHDN forum for stating my opinion, my review has been dismissed and won't be published it seems... Herd mentality at its worst, I'm not that far from joining the "I hate RHDN" wagon lol :rofl2: Only positive reviews are being accepted it seems...

I don't see how I'm being that unreasonable when I say the color palettes are terrible and half the game isn't even colorized at all at times... I've probably been harsh in my phrasing, but I didn't realize we were that much into a PC dictatorship.

Some screenshots to show what I'm talking about. I mean, how can some guys say it's not true that much of the game isn't colorized at all after seeing this ?

It's perfectly fine if people want to accept that work as is and praise it, but don't tell me how I should feel about it.

On second thought, I have to disagree with what you said about this hack. I have seen your ranting on this colorization being "horrible" and the short discussion that followed. Believe me or not, the screenshots you sent here (and on RHDN for that matter) don't look horrible at all.

You're just being overdramatic about just a few color choices that look absolutely fine to me. If you don't like something, then the best option is to not bother about it, but no. You are tempted to do a "review" that is actually a public ranting against the author's work, which could have taken MONTHS. I already read many of your negative reviews and all that they do is simply destroying the author's motivation to continue ROM hacking.

But what makes me mad is that when someone doesn't agree with your opinion you have to counter them!

You're literally the same person who complained about the Wario Land hack...you're really an hypocrite

Oh hell no. You have to be more respectful to other people's work. It's not fair that someone takes so much time of their life to make a grand scale hack and when it's released a bunch of presumptous people go crazy about what they do not like.

Comments like these are what led several people to abandon ROM hacking. If you don't like a certain DX hack, then how about you try do one yourself? Learn some Game Boy ASM, grab a game of your choice, and voila. It's not hard.

I already dealt with people like you who are being petty about not so relevant things.

Well, that hack was littered with bugs, and I agreed with that. But then korxo kindly took some time to update it, and while the colors are still pretty bad, at least the game is playable now. That's why updates exist.

(And stop calling me an hypocrite!)

The Wario Land hack is god-awful. But the only beef I have with the pics posted above is they used the same pallet for both wood and rock faces, and that does look pretty bad. Especially with that shot of the cabin on the cliff.

Does calling a colorization hack "god-awful" make you an hypocrite after all?

By the way, if y'all really want to find a colorization hack to criticize all along, there I found one for you.
Kirby's Dream Land DX, Kirby's Dream Land DX Revised and Kirby's Dream Land DX - Fluffy Repair Service (respectively GreenAndACat, ShadowOne333 and minucce)
nPH2ZbD.png

...Oh god. *pants heavily* The horror. This one is not a colorization hack, it's nothing but a total abomination. Yeah, at least some stuff was colorized, mainly Kirby's sprite, but it's not used in the best way ever, so some stages (e.g. Green Greens) either have wrong colors or uncolored objects, and the transition effects are also ruined. Let's not mention King Dedede who absolutely hasn't got the right colors and is half-corrupted in battle and in the credits. I do not recommend to play this hack at all and instead keep playing the original monochrome version in the hope that someday a skilled ROM hacker decides to colorize this Game Boy masterpiece properly and decently. Even with the addendum patches that followed, it still stays as one of the worst colorization hacks ever made!
Until someone makes a good DX hack of Kirby's Dream Land, we're stuck with THIS.

No, it makes me an art critic. :rofl2:

And Kirby's Dreamland DX isn't terrible with the fluffy repair service, the colors are just a bit too saturated in some places. It's a shame Toruzz can't do all the color hacks, because his colorizations actually look fantastic. I'd do it myself, but I don't know assembly.

Why the heck are the people in the comments saying it's good?
Because RHDN doesn't like posting fair or honest reviews, only the good ones. Their staffing is a dumpster fire.
