Read the above link to configure usb2, if not then you will have usb1.1 only.

Also for image support, you just need to add them files images extension into the filter using notepad, but it may crash mplayer trying to view any.

It looks like only the first partition is read by MPlayer. You have to switch the movies partition to the first position.
