Monster energy, presently one of the more popular energy drinks, have gone after an indie dev for having monsters (plural could be notable) in a title of their game.

The game they target is Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals made by glowstick entertainment. Can't say I have particularly heard of either which might be why they are trying it on.

lists 1990 reviews at time of writing which is respectable, no idea of concurrent hours played recently. Game came out in late 2020 by the way.
Curiously though the offer here is apparently that they can use it this one time (how generous) in exchange for not naming future games that (DLC could be an odd one). Studio says they will fight it, though in these sorts of things deep pockets is useful.

They tried it on before with Ubisoft, who apparently backed down.

The video notes they have some product placement in Death Stranding, though I would go further and note the full title of the supercross games does include it
https://gbatemp.net/review/monster-energy-supercross.747/ for an earlier one we reviewed, now onto its fifth game.

Others may remember the spat a few years back between then Minecraft makers Mojang and Elder Scrolls maker Bethesda. https://gbatemp.net/threads/mojang-being-sued-by-bethesda.304041/

Others still may remember hawkers of pointlessly expensive audiophool cables Monster have also gone after a number of things over the years. https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB123869022704882969

Quite what will become of Monster Rancher (first game 1997, last release last year, several in the years in between), Monster Hunter (in the west about 4 games, in Japan several dozen, 2004 through 2022), Dragon Quest Monsters, Monster Jam (long running monster truck related franchise, which also brings issues of its own https://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/show...h&a_search=Submit+Query&a_search=Submit+Query ) and counting regions, 2 in 1 and such then the 290 titles across GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3ds, PSP and vita http://advanscene.com/html/dbdupe.php 's search tells me exist, 9 results for 360 (presumably similar for PS3) https://abgx360.hadzz.com/verified.php?f=name&q=monster# (plus another for monsters vs aliens, a Dreamworks Paramount film from some years ago) and probably more still on other things remains to be seen.
