Hey guys so i need your assistance.
On my wall i have an aging Dell 24" with DVI,VGA and an old 4yr Ultrasharp i believe (was a present do not have model name)

on my desk i have a LG-Flatron E2441-BN.

i am selling my LG rather than my dell as i hate the colour repoduction (blacks are greys , the colours arent very vivid the contrast seems to low/high) where as my Dell has perfect colour reproduction . its just really bad unless im looking straight at it .

so i am moving my dell monitor on the wall to my desk and plan on replacing my dell monitor with something nice . i like the glaring kind of screens. (e.g LED Tv's Sanyp,Sony Etc.) im also looking for something of the same colours of sony tvs but not necissarily a major key. i have something like 16ms response time on my dell, bleeding edges and more recently noticing a fair bit of ghosting during films.

I'm looking for a new monitor with black blacks! (like my aging dell/like seen on sony tv's) and no ghosting as well as no bleeding. could anybody help me decide between the following on which is best for gaming and film viewing from a distance? .( i like the pop out effect some tvs have ..like a glossy panel but not too much gloss)

Oh sorry, my bad. It's that I use the black theme and I couldn't see anything.
On Topic: I'm not sure which is better than which, but in my opinion, the Asus and Samsung monitors are the best.

I purchased the vs248h a few months ago and i'm pretty pleased with it.
the color calibration was totally off on default settings and it took some time to get it right.
the ascr (contrast enhancement option) is pure bullshit though, when activated, it shut off the leds when the screen goes dark (not local dimming) so if there are details or stuff to see, you won't see them.

I know it's not a monitor you listed, but you might consider a Hannspree monitor as well. I got the Hannspree HF22 a year and a half or so back, 22" (21.5") LCD wide, 1920x1080, digital and hdcp compliant, the thing is gorgeous. Has a 5/5 rating on newegg.

It's developed a stuck pixel somewhere on the screen now which is heart-wrenching D:

This one.
Asus VS248H 24" 2ms wide LED w/DSUB DVI-D HDMI
Internet Price: $189.50

But if you don't mind paying an extra 80$ than I'd suggest this:
Asus VG236HE
Internet Price: 290$
  • 1920 x 1080 2ms
  • 100,000:1
  • HDMI, Dual-link DVI-D, Component(YPbPr)
  • 120Hz
  • NVIDIA 3D Vision support

thanks but im kinda in a budget ..looking over them i have realised that the samsungs are 3Million:1 and the other samsung 1Million:1 where as the asus is 5Million:1 and the Benq MLG monitor is 12Million:1 (Contrast Ratio) does this matter? and ive also read that samsungs are the best but looking at this im not sure now i mean apparently the samsung has no ghosting but the asus and Benq have higher contrast ratio? ..may someone help! (PS I dont care about 3D or 120HZ because this is a placeholder monitor for a year till i can save for a Sony 40" TV to use as my wall gaming and movie watching display by which time i will have this new monitor as my desk one for pc browsing and internet browsing :)

Narrowed down decisions:

ASUS VS239H-P – mwave (online order) – $199.00 inc. GST E-IPS 5-8MS – 23"
Benq GL2450HM – umart (pickup) – $188.00 – TN – 2MS – 24"
Asus VS248H – umart (pickup) – $189.50 – TN – 2MS – 24"
LG IPS235P-BN – umart. E-IPS. 23" ..very relucctant to this model though as the blacks in my current model dont seem very good and it has moulded my opinion for LG :S

all vesa mountable which is needed..hence the reason i no longer can consider the Samsung S24B300H as an option no longer even though it has a static contrast of :3Million:1

Mainly used for Fast paced film watching,Dark Film Watching,PC Gaming (mainly third person and FPS) and xbox gaming (Xbox HD VGA Cord) (E.g Borderlands 2) / I do like glossing but its not needed

Upgrading from a LG E2441 ,Blacks not deep enough, colours washed out ..viewing straight on.
Any Guidance/Help?

Inputs : Xbox HD VGA,PC – GTX560Ti MiniDSub – HDMI converter with a 1.4v HDMI Cable.

Would be very very much appreciated.

one thing to say about ips panels: their strenght lies in color reproduction and viewing angles at the cost of response time (more blur/ghosting on fast action) and lighter black.
generally, ips screens aren't recommendable for gaming ( especially the cheap ones)

Benq GW2450HM VA Panel 4ms GTG 1920x1080 HDMI DVI SPK VA LED Monitor

$169.00

Reviews seem mixed but it seems theres a new revision/firmware upgrade on all models sold after June 2012 so do u think the blacks will be better than my LG TN? with less ghosting with AMA Set to premium and overall a good monitor? :) 4ms GTG response time 10ms Max ...thats fine because im playing on a 14MS very old TN panel Dell atm so yer ...monitor good for PC via HDMI and Xbox via HD VGA? :)
