Hello everyone, breaktemp here again to be your host for GBATemp's 2014 March Pokemon Tournament !

Currently, I am accepting applicants for this months tournament.

So, for now, you are able to enter by posting your 3DS Friend Code, Pokemon X/Y Trainer Name, your time zone/region, and if you have obtained the "Vs. Recorder" Item :

All battles will use "Battle For Two - Double Battle" with "Flat Battle" rules.

Flat Battle : Pokemon above Level 50 will be set to 50 for the battle and both players will choose 4 of their 6 registered Pokemon after team preview.

* Note that pokemon under level 50 will not level up *

We will also be using "Species Clause" and "Item Clause" for this tournament.

Species Clause : No two Pokémon can share the same Pokédex number.

Item Clause : No two Pokémon can hold the same held item.

All Pokemon legal move sets, abilities, and mega evolutions will be available for use.

After a battle is concluded, both trainers must record the results with the Vs.Recorder.

Adding a description on how this tournament will be run "

On Friday (March 14th, 2013), once entries are closed, I will randomly select entrants and set them as a group.

I will keep doing so until all entrants have been grouped.

Next, the members of each group will exchange 3DS-Friend Codes and setup a time to battle.

You then battle every member in your group "once" and save the results to your battle recorder.

Once you have completed this step, post your win/loss results of your group in this thread.

That following Thursday (March 20th, 2013) I will tally-up the entrant's records and select the trainers who will be moving on to the Knockout Stage.

If all of the groups have submitted their results before the 20th...the Knockout Stage will start up earlier !!

By the time the tournament begins, though I'll be on Alaska Daylight Time, which is GMT -8:00.

Regarding the banlist, if I recall correctly Flat Battles ban all legendaries with a BST of over 600, which is reasonable, but also all event legendaries. I'm wondering if a case could be made for allowing certain event legendaries, specifically Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Land Forme Shaymin, Manaphy, Victini, Meloetta, and possibly Keldeo, since they're all far from OP. I'm not planning to use any of those at present regardless, but it might behoove us to avoid using the VGC's rather nonsensical restrictions.
Maybe that's too complicated, though.

I'm wondering if a case could be made for allowing certain event legendaries, specifically Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Land Forme Shaymin, Manaphy, Victini, Meloetta, and possibly Keldeo, since they're all far from OP. I'm not planning to use any of those at present regardless, but it might behoove us to avoid using the VGC's rather nonsensical restrictions.
Maybe that's too complicated, though.

Ah cool. I usually just play on Showdown for singles and rated battles on my 3DS if i want doubles, and rarely challenge others except my friends which i play 6v6. Thanks for the info

I do hope so and as long as it passes for legal use in "Battle For Two - Double Battle" with "Flat Battle" rules...you are good to go.

Yeah, since bank has been released I have not had a chance to test all of the available pokemon.

Is there a updated list available for X/Y ?

Also...I want to thank everyone who has been working, in the background, advertising this tournament.

This tournament will start in about a weeks time...so I trust everyone is finalizing their pokemon and items.
