Hacking Luma3DS - Noob-proof 3DS Custom Firmware

hi guys, i'd like to ask. (sorry for the long explanation)

I'm about to update my friends luma3ds (currently he's running New3dsXL A9LH + Luma 5.4), he bought a pre-A9LHed 3DS from online store. All works great so far on CFW 11.
I encounter weird stuff happening when i try to copy paste the new luma files.

1. Delete config file from luma3ds folder, copy all new luma 3ds 5.5 file, boot to configuration, enable autoboot sysnand and all plailect's recommended config.
system boots up but its on 9.2 FW and all title managers gone

It seems i'm unable to select autoboot sysnand, does it mean the 3DS is using emunand or other nand? i tried to extract the emunand from SD card with emunandTool but it failed because no emunand is detected.

As i know we can't return to 9.2 after updating to 11 right? (without injecting back nand backups)

Can somebody tell me what this 3ds is using? thanks

Might be using a Rednand instead (I don't think EmuNAND Tool can read Rednand?)

Would it be possible for Luma to patch "on the fly" the GBA games to restore their color? There's this tutorial on this page that explains how to patch them, but it has to be done with every single game: https://gbatemp.net/threads/restoring-original-colors-to-gba-vc.427642/ . Hi guys, I'm trying to install Luma to a friend's O3ds XL on 9.6 but I get a red screen when I try to boot it with CTRbootmanager directly from its Launcher.dat. I think I followed well the guide that was posted some posts above but I can't boot successfully in any way. I still haven't set up an emuNAND but I don't think that could be the problem, since I am quite sure I can boot in sysNAND, please correct if I am wrong. I attach two screenshots of my setup: boot.3dsx ist CTRbootmanager and hb.3dsx is the homebrew launcher. Thanks in advance for any help that will be provided.

Don't you need to downgrade to 9.2 first in order to use any CFW?

Is that really necessary? Because I would really like to avoid downgrading. There's no support at all for firmwares above it except downgrade?

You must downgrade to 9.2.

Yes. You have to downgrade. But if you really really don't want to downgrade, in fw 9.3+, you can still install some legit CIAs that require fw <9.6 (your fw) with NASA and play some games for free, like Mario Kart, PKM, MH4,...

No, you'll need to format first if you're on n3ds. Otherwise just downgrade.

It looks like it might contain the keys he had you put on the SD card in earlier versions.

it contain all slotskeys.bin in 1 file

oh i didnt notice that slotkey's links are gone in plaiguide... so it will be a cleaner look on our sd root...

Yes, you can! install luma like other custom firmware.

Yes u can and Luma3DS is a 100000 times better
