Or Smash bros, or Luigi's mansion or Monster Hunter or Kid Icarus Uprising...
People still play kid icarus online? :)

I may have to wish and hope nintendo does a switch port. :(

Anyway, I think people care enough about online modes in 3DS games here. Obviously someone started a thread asking how to unban, so I mean while opinions are cool and everything, how bout keeping it civil for GBATemp sake? (One month please? No problems? Too much to ask over 100,000 members) :ninja:

Why would i care about online? For the amazing FPS experience? For the team raids? To build with friends? Online on the 3ds doesn't mean shit, big whoop you can trade pokemon. Or visit some dumb ass animal crossing town..
Or cheat on smash bros and beat little kids up!!

Disabling the “Show friends what you’re playing" isn't needed. You won't get banned if you have it enabled. So far I haven't been banned with my main N3DS the last couple ban waves. My O3DS was ban because of spotpass was on. If you inject a public local friend code seed, expect to get banned all the time.

Well, its something on your end then. I play Mario Kart on the 3DS lots of times without any problems. Me and thousands of other players...
And several were unable to, as well. Mario Kart was the only 3DS game I own I couldn't play online.

Disabling it doesn't matter anyway. The info is still sent to Nintendo, only your friends won't see it.
Anything you run on your 3DS while online is logged on their servers, regardless of settings.

Do you have any technical info to back up that claim? Like a stream-catching log that some people worked on for checking when the 3DS sends data to the servers?

I want to say that it would make sense for Nintendo to have the log of software used, regardless of privacy settings.

Of course, at the same time just seems like a lot of work.

Someone did log the traffic and posted the results on the forum, that's how I know.
I can't be arsed to dig up the post though, it was buried in a thread.

I have still remained unbanned after all of this time. Ive been playing smash bros happily with my friend that just got a 3ds. I just recently uninstalled all of the homebrew from my homemenu and am using youtube as a base for 3dsx format stuff. 8.1.1 Luma's Rosalina is so stable compared to 8.0/8.1's. What homebrew isnt in 3dsx format??? Everything I've seen has a 3dsx format.
What @Freya has said is basically all that you can do to prevent yourself from being banned...

I'm actually surprised that I am still not banned yet. I see it coming eventually, but I havent touched homebrew for a very long time. Like a year before this ban wave has happened. So that could be a big reason why. Ive had all of those settings off since I touched this thing. I cross my fingers every time I boot this thing up :rofl2:

@The Real Jdbye https://gbatemp.net/threads/update-regarding-the-recent-3ds-banwave.471781/ has the info that explains what is sent and how to avoid the bans. (For whoever asked that question) lol

Was this a public seed ban or a private seed (the seed that came with your console) ban? If this is your first ban then it's a private ban which could be connected to a new wave or you did something to piss off Nintendo individually.

So avoid using .cia homebrew when you are online if you are worried. If you need to use FBI network transfer, or FreeShop, use the .3dsx of them versions loaded through Rosalina set to a legit title.

I guess there’s less point in this if you are using public seed, considering that some of the users surely not doing this.

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
    run h2testw on it

  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
yes looks like an faulty sd
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
@Psionic Roshambo i may try that with my dead sd cards
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    It's always worth a shot
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
  • I @ I-need-help-with-wup-wiiu:
i need help with nusspli failed downloads, can someone respond to my thread? pretty please:wub:
