ya i understand but this excuse is little stupid because homebrew can be used for older consoles piracy, which is still piracy... that;s why i'd like a clarification of this matter :D

Yeah because people still buy SNES and NES games...

its not about buying or not... i completely agree with you sir that this is stupid (as i am not even against piracy), but piracy is still piracy, whether is nes or snes or gamecube or wii u or switch game. None is better or worse. and it could even be argued that nintendo is losing some money because of lost profits from virtual consoles games.
they even have a page on the subject: https://www.nintendo.com/corp/legal.jsp#roms

You don't know crap yet. Maybe something easier gets released for 3.0.0. I'm sure tx will charge for their solution. I would recommend not to update yet if you don't have to because you never know where soft modding will end up
Of course the best thing to do now is wait, no point in updating yet, anything can happen I'm waiting too and I'm on 2.3. But it's very unlikely they can beat this hardmod future proof solution TX have. I see too much moralists around 3.0 scene.

Nothing is absolutely solid yet, we dont have anything in hands, we dont know the problems a latest firmware can cause, we dont know nothing just yet. Its way too early to conclude anything at this point. If i were you, i d keep my switch on the 3.0.0 stuff and wait till you get your machine all hacked and everything. And this was absolutely clear that someday we d have a firmware downgra de orsomething but not that fast actually, but, at least you have the opportunity to hack your console. So calm your nerves down and wait till we have it all done just right.

damn... hope this thread wont be too much of an inconvenience :(
no inconvenience, you are not the only one who would feel awkward in some ways for keeping your switch on a low fw.

mine is at 2.3 too.
and most of us 3.0 and below fw owners feel like we have the best switches.

and thus we might feel weird to see that actually everyone will get the cakes not only those of us who 'waited' because we were on a lower fw.

we should all though see this group of hackers coming up for the switch as something very good.

it is good for all of us, i would prefer CFW over Flashcards though..
(gateway 3ds was often awful to use).

They don´t want a Backup loader popping out of nowhere for Nintendo Switch games that are less than a Year old.

Maybe they wanted things to go a different direction? Maybe to early? All Guesses. Unless somebody asks them we will never know.

Obsessing over Homebrew and CFW this early in the console's life cycle is mostly impractical. Just wait another 3-4 years, and the Switch will be hacked wide open just like the 3DS was, and y'all can have all your homebrew and mods and custom themes and free gaemz.

Just another excuse for the Anti-Gateway Software Justice Warrior Brigade to circle the wagons and dump all over someone. If they want to stop it release a free solution before TX's product drops. That would do it. Otherwise listen to the whiners whine and the ones with the TX Chip/Cart?! play their games. Home-brew always leads to piracy. Always. The scene is 90% people who want piracy and the other 10% is mostly bullshit.. mostly. Code written to circumvent security of a device intending to run illegal code and possibly steal rights was stolen? By pirates? In a hacking convention that traditionally hands pirates everything they want on a silver platter? No way! What do you mean an attendee at a pirate convention was a .... pirate! no WAY! Holy crap! What do you mean?? Are you saying you can't TRUST A PIRATE NOT TO STEAL CODE??!??!? LOL ROFFL

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
