hi,
I have an R4 already see, R4 SDHC, not sure if it is a fake or not, it does bring up the message, "This chip is fake!!!" but thats the only thing I have found that points to it being fake.

If it is true, I am looking to buy a new chip preffably R4. Here is a link to a site that my friend got his chip from, http://www.acegamestore.com/ and here is the chip I am thinking of buying http://www.acegamestore.com/products/r4ds-...-flash-card-657 .

My friend didnt have any problems but there have been senarios where people have gone to places where a friend got their chip and those people recieved fake ones.

So what im asking is if someone could analyse that site and tell me if the chip is fake or not.
also, to tell me if my chip is fake, if a picture is needed or if you need more info to help you give me a result, just ask.

do you really want to buy an R4?I'd recommend others, but I'll answer your question anyhow

Basically all R4's you buy now are clones. It's obvious to know if they're clones,it they're not named R4(ONLY).They're named R4 SDHC,R4 king etc etc. However there are 1:1 R4 clones that can run Wood R4(which you should want). If your buying an R4,get the 1:1 clone in shoptemp.

ah I see, shame they are all fake now. Couldnt the original R4 creators keep their product going?
Well I'll give R4 Wood a try, I have R4 SDHC firmware in there anyway.

Wood R4 doesn't work on R4 SDHC, if my sources of information stands correct.

ah kay... well I just spoke to dad and he said "I will ony buy you one more chip for your DS"

So from what you guys are saying I should now buy the "1:1 R4 clone" and use R4 Wood or suffer playing old games hmm?

are you sure there is nothing I can do with my SDHC?

NO! DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING WITH R4 IN THE NAME!

If you want a REAL flashcard, something of QUALITY, get the AceKard 2.1 or AceKard 2i, depending on if you have a DSi or not. They're like $20 or something on ShopTemp.

Honestly, anything BUT the R4 would be a decent choice at this point. It's too much work to wade through all the clones, and even if you do get an original, it's still a bit past its prime.

Do some research here on GBAtemp. They don't do those reviews for nothing!

If you're REALLLLLY short on cash, then buy like 5 of these and resell them locally for 10 times the price, then buy yourself a decent flash cart (although an Acekard2i would fetch for the same price as 5 R4s).

For $3.30, that 1:1 R4 clone is really f**king fantastic. With Wood R4, it currently has the best compatibility out of any cart on the market, and it has some really premium build quality compared to most other carts.

You're basically getting an Acekard (with better compatibility for newer games) without SDHC support for 1/5th the price.

You totally missed the "I will only buy you one more chip for your DS" thing, didn't you?

Take it from a R4 Owner.
Get either an Acekard2i, or SuperCard DS2

IMO, anything else is not really worth the money atm.

Nice misleading again, guys.

This one at Priceangels:
R4 Revolution MicroSD/TF Multimedia Flash Cart for NDS and DS Lite (Compact Pack)
Costs $3.30 should run Wood just fine. It's the original.

At shoptemp:
R4 at ShopTemp
Costs $6.00 and runs Wood just fine. It's the original.

They don't support DSi or SDHC microSDs.

WoodR4 has 100% compatibility at the moment btw.

He wanted a new R4 that isn't fake. Which would be the original I recommended. And once again half of the thread is filled with R4 haters/AK fanboys going "DON'T BUY R4".
