Is there a way to factroy reset a CFW 3DS to "original"

Hi there,

I bought a 2nd 3ds (New XL). There is luma already installed onto. I like to do such things from scratch and by myself. Is there a way to completely reset the 3ds to its factory setting WITHOUT any of the CFW/homebrew/luma things on it?
Reason: When I follow the guide (hacks guide) I get an Error when trying to install homebrew launcher with "download play" (here in section II:https://3ds.hacks.guide/installing-boot9strap-(usm))

I tried to dump the error, but there is no dump file on the given path on sd card.

So I really would like to start all from the beginning.

Yeah, I bricked it...

Dont know why I tried it, but now I am stuck in Section 2 (bannerbomb) of the Guide.

If neither of these solutions fixes this problem, then custom firmware may have been uninstalled on this device in a way that makes this method impossible to perform.

Hitting the DSiWare button will force the sys to crash. I followed everything step by step, but sth went wrong. Is there ANY way, to get it fixed?

For this reason I do not even link to the uninstall page anymore -- hoping in vain nothing bad will happen.

What is the point of deleting things for the sake of deleting things? If there are no problems, why cause some?

The uninstallation page leaves no doubts in this regard. I mean there is a big red warning box. What could they do more? Autoplaying videos of white flags madly waving around with sirens sounding in the background while the word "Warning!" flashes in big font on the screen?

The only thing I have left as an issue is that I have 2 FBI icons.

the bold one is new, the other one came out of nowhere and works as well (I think)

check system settings' data management and see if you have two fbis installed.

It may possibly be a H&S inject. Would want to restore it. or refresh icon cache with cathulu if it already is reset

Huh.
I sold my new 3ds XL a few months ago and did the cfw uninstall without any issues.
I knew what I was doing though, maybe that was the difference.

Layer-8 problem is same as saying "Pebkac"– Problem exists between keyboard and chair.
If you don't know the expressions, you have to look them up. It is a very poorly disguised insult combined with arrogance (decrypting requires non-common knowledge). Using such expressions shows the person you are insulting isn't even worthy of a clear statement.

I have to confess my first reply here was anything but friendly as well. My apologies for this. The reason for me losing my temper with this… is the big number of problems caused by the eternal urge to delete/uninstall stuff despite the omnipresent warnings. Nearly always the same bad reasons:

• I want to start from scratch!
• I want to sell the console (and not disclose previous modding to the buyer)

@KleinesSinchen Why to be friendly or political correct if there are sign`s (big red) everywhere and loosing the temper? How to explain to people, which dont have a clue what they are doing they DONT have to do that. "Willing to Do? NOO, D O N T Do THAT!" Then there must be some scary Animation come up.

And Sorry, some people are a Layer 8 problem. Some are not even able to create a steam account by registering (really true story). But they are doing a education to work as IT-Specialist.

This is indeed very nice of you. The thing is, I bought the 3Ds in used condition. I saw some apps I could not remove. I tried to reinstall everything following every word of the guide.
So I am neither stupid nor unable to read warnings. Btw a warning is no “you’re gonna break it anyway”.
So everything works fine now. If there weren’t these 3 apps, I cannot delete from home menu.

There are red signs on the street, this are warnings. Get hit by a car and you can call the emergency.

Open either of the FBIs, the go to Titles, and find both FBI entries in the list. Then post the TitleID of both entries here.

Yep, that Title ID corresponds to health & safety. FBI was injected to it. I don't know how to revert the process tho, maybe someone else does.

This will only work if the Health & Safety injection was performed by GodMode9 (not Decrypt9 or Hourglass9).

1. Press and hold (Start), and while holding (Start), power on your device. This will launch GodMode9
2. Press (Home) to bring up the action menu
3. Select “More…”
4. Select “Restore H&S”
5. Press (A) to unlock SysNAND (lvl1) writing, then input the key combo given
6. Press (A) to relock write permissions if prompted
