Hello Everyone!

My Name's Ashton, (but you can call me Game Genie Labs!)

I make Game Genie Codes for mostly NES games. The method I use? ROM Disassembles! I will post a tutorial on how to do that soon!


To start off is my HUGE collection of NEVER BEFORE SEEN Game Genie NES codes for Super Mario Bros. (SMB1)

I guarantee you you've probably never seen these codes before, since they are 100% new!

I've created a spreadsheet of a list of codes, which is still updated to this very day!






All codes I promise are 100% original, and created all by me!

Like stated earlier, I will create a tutorial on how I made these, and hopefully others can try to use the same method that I use to apply to other games.


I'm still making codes and I plan to do so for a long time! I've created a YouTube channel to post my codes I made and uploaded, also in my bio.

Additionally, I may take code creation requests, but ONLY for SMB1 NES, which is very easy to do. Obviously I can't make complex codes, like "Mario Shooting Koopa Shells" but I can help make simple codes, such as level terrain scramblers, or graphics corruption, or even simple replacement codes!


I plan on expanding to other games as well, but right now I'm making codes for just Super Mario Bros. for NES.


Hopefully ya'll enjoy my codes, and as I promised, a well documented tutorial is on the way.

Tested most of them last night while playing Super Mario Bros 1 on my MacBook Pro. Works fine. Excellent work, newbie! Most of the codes make the game much harder to play but a few make it much easier.

Can I beat 1-1 with that code enabled? Hell no. Good work my guy!

Haha, thank you for the feedback!

I plan on expanding to other games SOON! My method of making codes this way is often reliable with ways that has potential to work for any game using 6502 OP code stuff.

    I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer

    @TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)

    I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version

    @Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!

    I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it

    I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
