If I remember correctly, the "easy installers" include files copyrighted by Sony (decrypted files from the official PSP firmware) so they can't legally be posted. Kinda like the key.bin file used for Trucha.

Well I guess that explains why I could never find that key.bin file for NGC ripping too then. Great back in the dark on how to do things. I am amazed Im having so much trouble finding this crap, usually its no problem.

Yea there is a start.exe file in there and its 111KB, dont know about the icon though... Its something weird, cant really tell what it is. There is also four other .rar files in the folder, do those need to be uncompressed first? They are: fatextc.rar, fatpand.rar, slimpan.rar, and uniunbr.rar.

Hey does anyone know of a website with the PSP games released and their associated filenames like GBATEMP has for NDS and WII games?

Hey there,
Great tutorial you wrote there

I'm having a bit of trouble maybe you know what I'm doing wrong?
Well, modded the battery and created the Magic Memory Stick. Now the problem is when I insert the battery. The power, wifi and ms light all come on and nothing happens. It doesn't flicker or anything, just stays on. I left it running for about 15 minutes, and all three lights are remaining on and nothing is displaying on the screen. Anybody know what the problem could be?

I have a Fat PSP, and modded the battery that came with it when I bought it back on 05/05/05. It's the 1800mA one. I'm using a 4GB Sony Memory stick (Magic Gate).

Thanks in advanced!

You cut the 5th leg, I assume? And does the power light go on when you insert the battery without the MS?

Alright, now for the real question!

What needs to be updated or changed on the magic memory stick to make it both so you can see whats going on on the screen with a PSP slim AND to make it install the latest 3.90 M33-2 instead of the older 3.71 M33???

Just Replace Despertar del Cementerio on your memory stick with the latest version (version 4) on Dark Alex's website.

Sorry, got slightly confused but that will install 3.80 M33, but its pretty easy to update it to 3.90 M33-2 from there.

Okay some probably very dump questions but I've read the guide and I'm wondering the following:

1.) So if I buy a Pandora battery I don't have to worry about doing any actual hardmodding myself?
2.) After installing the custom firmware will that enable me to play PSP roms and homebrew? Or is it one or the other?
3.) Is there any other places you'd recommend I go for extra info on the scene?

I apologize if any of these questions are covered and I missed it.

ok, having difficulty finding the TotalNewbie download. Is this in anyway similar to the Ultimate Pandora Memory Stick Installers I see on PSP-Hacks?

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
