Is this working on 16.0.2? I just updated and I keep getting "no games found" for very resolution

Nevermind, I can confirm it works. For some reason, my system clock was way out of date with the "synchronize via internet" option. It was showing up as 7/25/21. Probably not the place to ask, but any idea how to fix that without having to set it manually?

Im on Atmos 15 and have sys-tweak correctly set up and icon grabber. downloaded and applied a 600x900 image but dont see the change.

Please help @Slluxx @SodaSoba
Sounds like either
  • you did not restart your switch
  • sys-tweak is not correctly set up
  • you downloaded an icon but didn't apply it to a game
  • icongrabber did not download an icon.
Check if a "/atmosphere/contents/<titleid of your game>/icon.jpg" exists. If yes, you did not restart your switch or sys-tweak does not work. If no, you might did not apply it. Check if "/gameIcons/full/" exists and if the image is in there or not. If yes, you definitely did not apply the image. If no, it was not downloaded for whatever reason.

I actually did all of that. So I had to install NXTheme and apply this theme https://sodasoba1.github.io/NSW-Custom-Game-Icons/supportedthemes/ which worked but doesnt look like the image on your first post

Oh and /atmosphere/contents/<titleid of your game>/icon.jpg" exists. it has game art 256x256 also "/gameIcons/full/ it has game art 267x400

So tried again with nxtheme uninstalled and it only changes the default icon, meaning different art but same square size not like your 1st post. Even though I downloed vertical icon @Slluxx

if that exists (and the image is intact) then "sys-tweak" is not doing its thing.
Can you doublecheck that by deleting and placing a (prooven) gameicon manually in that path? Im sure you will find one in @SodaSoba s collection.

I'll try tomorrow.
For this to work, do I need to apply a theme with nxtheme?

no, you don't need a theme.

sys-tweak will change your icon no matter what, but if you change to a 2:3 icon that is made to be used with a theme, then it will look weird without a (2:3) theme enabled.

You are doing something wrong obviously
If the icons are square but the image has changed you haven't installed a vertical theme.

If you try to apply a new icon and it isn't changing then systweak isn't enabled.

Are you restarting after applying icons?

It works with vertical theme installed. I wanted to replicate the look Sllux has on 1st post and he said theme isn't needed. Yes I've been restarting console every time.

Right you seem to be not understanding how icongrabber fundamentally works I'll try to explain.

icongrabber will download a vertical icon 600x900(2:3) it will resize the icon to 256x256.

Vertical themes (.nxtheme) stretch the 256x256 image into a 2:3 ratio icon.

The switch can't render icons bigger than 256x256 and it must be a non progressive jpg under 128kb

For icon replacements to work you need sys-tweak which mitm icons by loading icon.jpg from atmosphere/contents/<game titleid>/icon.jpg

Edit; the theme from page1 was abandoned the closest we have is either switchdeck package or something (zribaas)zhi made with his animated homepage theme it has good sized icons and zoomed selected icons.

Almost all vertical themes use switchdeck allapps template I've yet to see any that haven't used it.

Ok thanks, I can't seem to find the one from zhi, do you have a link please?

These 2 are also good https://github.com/hotshotz79/NX-Custom-Game-Icons but not available in white. Is it possible to change them to white?

Whenever I try to run icongrabber and enter the api key it causes my switch to freeze up. I'm on 16.0.3 / Atmosphere 1.5.3. Anyone have any thoughts as to why it freezes up on me?

try starting it in full ram mode, not applet mode.
you can also manually enter your api key inside the config file as written in the first post

I’ve basically exclusively used full ram mode. I think my issue might be deeper seeded because I have the same issue when selecting a menu on themezer and nx themes installer. I can install and select previous downloaded themes prior to updated to 16.0.3 but as soon as I try to do a search my switch completely locks up on me and none of my buttons work. I’ve left it waiting for up to 20 minutes to see if it was just having trouble loading but nothing happens and I’m forced to do a forced shutdown of my switch.

To add to that whenever I run sys-tweak I can’t even load the hbmenu

https://github.com/p-sam/switch-sys-tweak/actions/runs/4683175921 this looks to be the latest sys-tweak
"libnx 16.0.0 compat update #78" try that

also there is a version of icongrabber a few pages up that fixes the DMCA image crash issue
I can't speak for 16.0.3 I'm on 16.0.2, i know if I try run saltynx its been causing my switch to crash

I have updated my icon repo guide page and included icongrabber
https://sodasoba1.github.io/icongrabber/
