ROM Hack how to make a rom use another roms .SAV file?

i had a shitty pokemon rom the kept freezing, and now i have another pokemon rom (and akio thing) but it wont read the .sav file, it just creates a new one.

how do i make a different rom(same game) use another rom(again, the same game)'s .SAV file

The names have to be exatcly the same, if the rom was called Pokemon soulsilver.nds the sav file has to be exactly the same, Pokemon soulsilver.sav

When you say akio do you mean Acekard's Unofficial firmware, AKAIO?

If so then make sure you have AKAIO 1.6RC2. Then make sure that all your save files are .sav not .SAV or else it'll make a new save. Also that all your saves have the same name as your rom. Mario.nds is associated with Mario.sav.

    Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

    @Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
