Well I downloaded the NES, SNES, N64, GB/C and Genesis ROM sets in one day, iunno how many total that is, over 3000 at least IIRC.

Partially right.
They don't care about piracy of other companies IP, but they do care about all the hogged bandwidth used for the pirating. I've read a statistic that pirating accounts for 24% of all bandwidth. Surprised it isn't higher.
