A filebased emummc is just as it says, a file. It's in the emummc folder and should be around 32GB.
You can copy over all your files from the old SD card to the new SD card.
If your current card is FAT32 formatted, make sure your new card is also FAT32.
You can create a CRC32 checksum for both files to see if all data was copied perfectly.
(7Zip has an option for that : right click -> CRC SHA submenu entry).
The CRC32 for the file on the old sd card and the file new sd card should be the same.

If you bought this absolute bargain 256TB sd card for $15 on ebay, then maybe you got a fake card.
Even 32GB cards were faked back in the days and sold for about the same price as legit cards.
You can't see the difference on the outside and the fake card will act as if it really is a 256TB but corrupting your data all over the place.
If you have a PC, just run H2TestW to check whether your card is legit.

Here's the guide: https://rentry.org/EmuNANDNewSDcard
For file-based emuMMC, it's really simple. Make sure that your SD card is FAT32 formatted and just copy your files over.
If the files got corrupted somehow and you're unable to boot into your emuMMC to backup your game saves, I'd suggest that you start from scratch on a new SD card.
Also, if you USB adapter (USB card reader?) is faulty, don't use it anymore. Get a new one from a reputable brand. I've been using Transcend one for years now.

I'd suggest that you switch to partition-based emuMMC since file-based emuMMCs are more prone to data corruption.
