Perhaps not, but I have never seen a "for future use" port on any device ever actually used for anything. (Well, officially)
Well... well... What about the port later used for Sega CD?
Or the one later used for Famicom Disk System?
Or... Well, there are many other examples.

LOL.. more guess, again. Oh boy. I don't want to guess until it is release in March. O course, I won't buy it until this fall. Anyway, less guess and more facts is better. :)

I never had those, but you are correct I am sure there are instances but it sure seems whatever device has expansion ports usually reaches EOL before anything is implemented.

Take a loot at...lets say (now already old) iPad Air 2. Holes there are microscopic compared to these....
Its big enough for children can put their fingers in there and pull the Nand out for crying out loud.
it needs to breathe heavy :P

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

of course it has a grill, just like the laptops, you can even put your dindly dong there,
i'd rather use a Pipedream :creep:

maybe they are there (for cooling like a few of you said) because it will overheat easily... so they give a big vent to keep it cool enough

don't you guys know how exhausts work? bigger is better!

You can also drill a hole in it.

More seriously for the ricers/gary boys/whatever your local pejorative is in the audience exhaust is part of the typically four stroke cycle (intake, compression, expansion, exhaust, or if you prefer something more memorable suck, squeeze, bang, blow) so bigger may get in the way of that cycle -- my favourite for this was at drag races one day. Guy had a too long exhaust and cut it off to tune the engine, before going too far and welding a bit back on.

Japan is pretty good at fixing sinkholes, but not good at not making holes in their electronics. Unfunny jokes aside, this is 100% for cooling purposes. The Switch is also a handheld and that much power on such a small case creates high temperatures. Which makes me worry a bit, to be honest.

It's similar to a heat pump/refrigeration cycle.

When the South Park studio decides to make an episode without offensive gestures, words or dildos...
I mean for any console, my preorder is not on the Switch anyways (ofc). And I love my offensive gestures, words an dildos, so leave them where they are please.
PS: Release date still unknown, ugh. I miss those time when it was still supposed to release on December'16.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
