hi , im new to this forum as well as updating a psp. I have had this psp from new and haven't turned it on for many years. I am looking to play nes and snes games on it. as of now everything on this psp is oem with 3.40 factory sony sw. I have read that I need to update the sw to 6.61 before adding any customer sw. I have downloaded the factory 6.61 sw from the sony website and installed it on the memory card in the game folder as the UPDATE. when trying to run the sw update on the psp, it shows the update sw icon and when clicking on it the psp reboots and then gives an error message that says, "the game could not be started, error dadadada. I will say that the oem battery is completely dead and will not charge so I just bought an after market battery and it charges to 100%.
so at this point I am unsure of how to update to 6.61 from 3.40. again the sw that is installed at the moment is the factory sony sw and has never been hacked.
