Hacking Help with R4, stuck in loading screen.

I found my old R4 and I really wanted to play but I sold my Ds long time ago so I got someone to borrow me one aand after all my R4 doesnt work... The micro sd inside was blank and I been all day reading about different R4 models and their respective kernels, firmwares, etc but I got really confused lol. I already tried a lot of kernels but it didnt work, it stays in loading screen. I dont know if i need to download anything else or what im doing wrong. Help me pls
