So my friend let me borrow her GBA and games, and one she showed me was a bootleg she found in a donation bin or something. And yeah... it's definitely a bootleg:
[See front.jpg]
First of all the cart has 238 games on it so given that at the top left it says M238Y6A that's closest we have to a name, since the only other text just says gameboy sp advance which obviously wont bring up any ROM results on google. I'm pretty sure linking to something like a ROM on GBATemp is against the rules, but since this is a bootleg I doubt it matters. But if you still can't link, then just email me. (PM me for email address please.)
[see back.jpg]
first of all it says AGB-022 instead of AGB-002 like it should, plus read the logo... it says nintOndo instead of nintEndo xD which I found pretty funny at first.

I can't find this for the life of me online, and I've checked through a couple GBA Rom sets with no luck.
Honestly I just want to make a YouTube video on this game, cause it's pretty bad, and definitely reminded me of some AVGN and JonTron moments.

All help is appreciated, thanks.

Still not the place. It looks to me to be a compilation of official GBA games, which are definitely copyrighted.

And I doubt it's easily available on the internet. These things are likely quite uncommon. Could try dumping it yourself.

It's not, it's all NES games, some of them are even copied with different names and some reskins. So yes there is nothing original but they aren't GBA games.

How do you dump a GBA ROM from a cart?

EDIT: Bootleg NES games are very easy to find. So do you just mean GBA Bootlegs aren't common online?

The name is "238 in 1" it's a bootleg Nintondo, probably from/for China. It is probably not dumped, USB tools for the PC are common look on ebay or Amazon if you really need it in that format or there is probably homebrew that would allow you to compile something similar.

Homebrew? You can homebrew a GBA!? And even if the USB tools are common, surely they are expensive right?

$15-$20, Yes, that cart is homebrew. There is a variety of flash carts and back up tools. I am sure there is a writeable cart you can put those roms on.

It's probably pocket nes emu
What...?

If you're talking about the bootleg (I don't know why you replied to that message if you're talking about the bootleg) it's running some emulator called VisualNES version 11
If you're not talking about the bootleg then I have no idea the context or meaning of what you just said lol.

So we finally know the name of the emulator now go find that emulator to see if it has a .Gba compiler

I have loads of these carts all different versions. I once tried dumping one about 5 years ago with no success. If I remember right it just dumped one game.

Yeah I also had a conversation some time back with someone trying to dump a many in one GBA collection. It used some kind of bankswitching/pogoshell arrangement like some of the older NOR carts and that confused the dumping program. If you have a DS/DS lite and DS flash cart it is easy enough to try though.

Pocketnes is one of the NES emulators available for the GBA (the other most common being HVCA). Apparently ( http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/PocketNES ) several of these pirate compilations would change the name to visualnes.

In most cases we would need to see the PCB to be able to tell you more. Some of these are GBA flash carts tweaked slightly, other times it can be full custom stuff.

Well if I ever get a DS/DS Lite I'll (and I can figure out how to homebrew it) I'll get back to you on the status of this.

EDIT: Or if I get a gamecube and a gameboy player for it, I've heard gamecube homebrew is easy if you have a wii that is also homebrewed.

GB player will not do you much good. It is a piece of standalone hardware and not much debug stuff is available

If you do have a homebrew GC though then you get access to a very nice alternatively loader

Theoretically you can chain some together (one of those has a measure of xboo support) but if you had the gear to do that you would probably just do it on the PC instead.

DS and DS lite homebrew is easy. You buy a DS flash cart. You copy the kernel it supports to the SD card. You copy the DS homebrew you want to the SD card (some might want you to also copy some files from the same zip or into a specific directory, which it will say in the readme). You are done.
