Hacking HDD recognized but no games found

I followed the instructions step by step on the modmii, the only other thing I did was load the loader GX when the original loader didn't work.

Go to the "Messageboard" on your Wii and navigate to Yesterday. Click on the envelope with the pink Bomb icon.
Use the installer to install the Homebrew Channel (HBC) and Bootmii as IOS and Bootmii
Method A: Using IOS236 Installer
After waiting 30-60 seconds for the HBC to attempt to initialize the network, launch "IOS236 Installer v5 MOD".
Note: This app must be launched using HBC v1.0.7 or higher in order to work properly.
It should say "IOS236 installation is complete!" and return to The Homebrew Channel.

Launch "Priiloader 236 Mod" via the Homebrew Channel
After the Priiloader Installer loads, press + to install it.

• Block Disc Updates

• Block Online Updates

• Replace Health Screen

• Move Disc Channel

Load Multi-Mod Manager (MMM) via the HomeBrew Channel.

    After that I tried to load the usb loader and it only showed one game on the drive. I loaded via WAD the GX loader and it sees all 3 games but wont launch any of them.

I have a 500GB thumb drive that works with both usb loaders and a wall powered hdd that only works with GX

Why are you installing all of that? You only need d2x cIOS as 249[56] and 250[57]. You can use those with your mod manager for installing WADs. Nothing else is needed at all.

modmii often replaces all the IOS to get clean ones in case the user used PimpMyWii or DarkCorp.
It also replace all system menu IOS to the IOS60 in all slots (to prevent issues if the user downgrade the system menu without installing a corresponding IOS first).
The cIOS are good, even if hermes IOS are less used.

these are not useful :
Mii-Channel-NUS-v6 : you probably already have it
Opera-Internet-Channel-NUS : well, if you want to browse internet from wii.
Wii-Speak-Channel-NUS : why not, if you have wiispeak USB accessory only
IOS58-64-v6176 : Why this is part of the "additional channels" ?. installing a clean IOS58 could be useful, in case your HBC is upside down or using another IOS slot.
USBLoader(s)-ahbprot58-SD-USB-v11b-IDCL : That channel is not very good. it's a forwarder to many USBLoaders, but it loads the first it encounters. It's better to install the "official" forwarder from the loader you want to use. For example, USBLoaderGX forwarders has features like meta.xml and ntfs support.

I still don't see what I did wrong I did this years ago way back when it took an hour to mod the wii and it worked great with an external hdd formatted to wbfs. now I'm doing what the instuctions say and on TWO wiis it doesn't work!

What size SD card are you using?

THe SD card works great Ive loaded a ton of wiiware and older platform game from it its a 4GB

For the initial hack it's recommended you use a 2GB SD card. No SDHC

Did you post a SysCheck report and I'm not seeing it?

As far as installing stuff on the console you only need to update it and install d2x v8 in 249[56]/250[57]. If that's not working then try d2x v10 beta 52. If it's still not working you either have one of the Wiis with a funky USB controller or your storage device is incompatible or is partitioned incorrectly. If you bought another Wii and it's still not working it's likely your HDD.

Letterbomb (please.hackmii.com) recommends a standard SD card.

It was the hdds I was using I got another smaller one 250gb and it works

the "initial hack with SD non HC" will not affect later use of the console.
The issue why it required "non HC" is because the first exploit (zelda savegame exploit) or earlier HBC installer didn't have SDHC drivers to mount the SD card.
it should now work fine.
