Well, haven't updated the wiiU, so I'm on 5.5.1. I have haxchi installed and I also have the Homebrew Launcher Channel installed. I'm safe, right?
Yep.
If you have one of these setups you're good to go:
  • Haxchi with Homebrew Launcher mapped to a button in config.txt
  • Haxchi with sysmenu (Haxchi CFW) or Mocha CFW mapped to a button and Homebrew Launcher Channel installed

Ok, Thank You. I have both xD

Another question that I forgot. Should I update on OFW or CFW?

I don't know if there's a way to tell which haxchi is installed unfortunately. updating should just paste the rom.zip of the updated version over the old version. the rom.zip contains the game or the exploit in this case. this is only for haxchi. cbhc, on the other hand, it's recommended to uninstall first, then install the update.

I have haxchi configured to boot homebrew channel directly and fw.img if I hold "A" button. Is there a way to reconfigure and switch these two options once everything is installed?

yes, with the config.txt. u can make this yourself. just type in default="location of the fw.img without the quotes" then, a="location of homebrew launcher without the quotes." put them on two separate lines. then, place the config.txt in the haxchi folder on the root of your sd card.

I already did this but nothing changes, I think that that file is used only during the installation of haxchi.

Thank you, I didn't think that was so easy!
Just a note:
If you downloaded the newest Haxchi version (which can simply be installed over any previous one) you don't need the outdated fw.img any longer.
Just do this:
Code:
default=path/to/your/hbl/homebrew_launcher.elf
a=sysmenu
sysmenu in fact is (something like) fw.img - it's Haxchi's own CFW which is the fastest and gives you nearly all features that fw.img or Mocha CFW offer you (including region and sig patches of course).

Coming back to this, are you saying that it is technically possible to implement? That it's not a limitation?
Well, it's a limitation of Haxchi as it is right now, but it doesn't seem like a technical limitation in the sense that Mocha can install its patches without having to relaunch the OS, so maybe Haxchi could be modified to install patches and run an elf instead of install patches or run an elf, but things could get messy when you exit that elf because there was no clean relaunch (just like what happens with Mocha.)

Yeah I meant technical limitation :)

Thanks for this. I fail to see though why a clean relaunch would be needed. In most cases, users will either relaunch system menu for sigpatches, or would go to hbl (or a hotkey'd app) that would need hacked functions such as wupinstaller for fakesigned installations, or ftpiiu_everywhere.

If a user wants to use any of these apps anyway, he would have to relaunch to system menu then launch these apps, where after he's done, he's not left with a clean relaunch anyway.

Also, couldn't implementation be versatile? In the sense of having the option in config.txt to either keep it the way it is, or the way I'm proposing. So that users get to pick the way they would like to see haxchi working.

Though I do see the limitation of it being not too friendly in the sense that you'll have to reinstall haxchi every time you change that option (or anything) in config.txt .. which leads me to my next point: wouldn't it be possible to implement reading the config.txt from SD, and revert to nand only if SD doesn't exist/file on SD doesn't exist?

Thanks again :)

I apologize in advance if this has been already covered....

I don't think I'm setup to allow for different actions to occur when launching Haxchi. By that I mean I checked my sd card and don't have a haxchi folder in the root of the card. Therefore no config.txt

As I recall, I installed haxchi to Brain Age DS game that was purchased from eShop via a button within HBL (I did not download/extract anything to sd card).

Also, my icon of the ds game did not change after haxchi was installed.

Ideally, I would like to have haxchi launch sysmenu with no buttons held down, and HBL when launched with the ^a^ button held down.

Thanks in advance!

So I downloaded the zip. Obviously I put it in apps, but where do I put the haxchi folder? And by that, I mean the first haxchi folder that pops up alongside the wiiu folder?

I'm assuming I put it on the base (in no folders basically) on my SD card, but I want to be sure.

Also, this part confuses me:

"Its example config.txt will boot homebrew launcher by default, a fw.img on your sd card when holding A and holding B will send you back into the system menu which will get full signature and region patching and support this ftpiiu-everywhere version; Haxchi comes with its own sysnand CFW included.
For a full list of all compatible buttons that you can use for the config.txt go here.
The content of this haxchi folder can be changed to your liking - if you want to you can also add in an alternative bootSound.btsnd to replace the original startup sound which I did not do in this example haxchi folder."

So what and how am I supposed to edit the config.txt to get it to work? And do I absolutely need the ftpiiu for this to work? All I want is to be able to get on homebrew without relying on the internet.
