I have a JP N3DS on 8.1.0-0J, which doesn't have a multirom menu. Is it possible to update emuNAND with firmware located on a cart so I could update to 9.4 and get the rom menu working? Some people have said this would work and other people have said this would actually update sysNAND (and some people said it would just brick). I've heard that you could update emuNAND with firmware located on a ROM, so why not a physical cartridge?

You need to upgrade to 9.2j then you can hold up on the d-pad while booting gateway mode then with mm3d jap which has 9.4j you can upgrade your emunand

Why wouldn't it work on 8.1? Is it just bugged, or is there some 9.0-9.2 specific exploit that it uses to update firmware from a cart?
