I know that this was done for the Wii so people could still play MarioKart over Wiimmfi, but has anyone tried it for the Wii U yet? I haven't noticed any threads about it.

Should still be a good time to capture as much packets as possible for every game people want to play in 100000000000 years.

Well, it would be a good thing to check if the Nintendo servers still accept http connections(so we can patch our games to communicate via http instead of https to analyze the packets). Without that, I think its likely not possible to create a custom server like Wiimmfi for Wii U games. Also, I think the NNID system would be a big issue, since the servers check your NNID before letting you connect.

Well, I think the console doesn't check for your NNID when you play online... It does so just to access the E-Shop.

I just tried collecting packets from my Wii U, but I'm not sure it worked. Only captured 8 packets. (Should I upload them here?)

I'm used Nmap to find my Wii U's local IP (10.0.0.9) and then used Wireshark to collect the packets using the filter (host 10.0.0.9).

Does anyone know how to use Wireshark? U_U;

Your method doesn't work. You have to connect your PC to LAN, and then create a WiFi-AP. After that, you'll have to setup your Wii U to use this AP and change the interface in wireshark to the WiFi card. There might be better ways, but that's how I captured most of my dumps for wiimmfi.

Also, many modern Routers have a packet capture function built in, but it will capture your entire Network, not just your Wii U.

Now is the time to reverse it before the servers go down. You can capture packets but its encrypted. That makes it usless unless you decrypt as you capture
